Sea Otter and Wildlife Cruise

After setting out from the harbor in downtown Sitka with no more than six guests, this tour will take you out into the waters of Sitka Sound and the surrounding area. Depending on the weather and sea conditions that day, we may head north into Nakwasina Sound, out into the open waters of Sitka Sound to St. Lazaria Island, or south to the Goddard Hot Springs area. There is no shortage of options for beautiful places to visit here.

Your captain will discuss the possibilities available that day. There are so many options of places to visit that we will find something to suit your needs. Your captain has lived in Sitka for over 30 years, has a degree in Fish and Wildlife Biology and has made a career in AK Fisheries industry. You will delight in his knowledge of the area.

Among the possible wildlife sightings along this incredibly rich coast are humpback and/or gray whales, harbor seals, Steller sea lions, sea otters, and bald eagles. Keep you eyes peeled along the shore as well as occasionally brown bears, along with other animals are sometimes spotted.

The boat you will be traveling on is a 27' fiberglass vessel with a heated cabin, enclosed marine head and comfortable seating inside as well as outside deck for viewing. Complimentary bottled water and snacks are provided as are binoculars and various field guides so you can enjoy your tour.

Tour requires a minimum of two guests to book. Maximum per departure is six so book early to avoid disappointment. .

For all tours in Alaska, we recommend wearing layers, the top one waterproof. Sensible walking shoes are recommended.
Restrictions
Guests must be able to step on / off boat as well as navigate a wooden ramp to the boat dock. Depending on the tide, the ramp can be quite steep. Fold up wheelchairs can be stored with advance warning. Tour requires a minimum of two guests to book
