Enjoy the many spectacular highlights of Santorini on this comprehensive tour. Your tour begins when you meet your professional local guide and climb aboard your air conditioned vehicle. Departing the beautiful cliff side town of Fira, your first destination will be the mountain of Profitis Ilias. Profitis Ilias is the highest point on the island (567 meters), located between Pyrgos and Kamari. The mountain's name comes from the Monastery (built in 1712) with the same name on its peak. From outside of the monastery, you will enjoy a striking view of the entire island, from the patchwork agricultural plains to the hilltop village of Oia.

Departing Profitis Ilias, your next stop will be the village of Pyrgos. Pyrgos was built on the top of a hill and was until the early 1800, the capital of the island. The village is composed of traditional houses built around the Venetian Castle and the small streets follow the shape of the hill. Climbing from the square up to the castle of Pyrgos, the stone houses crowd more densely together and the labyrinth of narrow vaulted lanes becomes more amazing. The village has many churches, around 33, but the most famous is the Monastery of Profitis Ilias, where a small collection of ethnographic material and old icons are exhibits.

Your next stop will be Megalohori. Megalohori is one of the most picturesque villages on the island. Its existence is recorded back to the 17th century. Home to historical mansions, old traditional houses, pirate hideaways and wine canavas, it has a history of merchants and wealthy land barons exporting Vinsanto wine that the island still produces. A prominent feature of the historical homes and mansions are the high walls, inner courtyards and solid wooden door entrances, built for privacy and for safety against marauding pirates.

Next you will travel to Perissa, word renowned for its black sand beach. A feature that makes Perissa unique (besides the crystal water and the smooth sand) is the fact that is the best protected beach from the summer Aegean winds. Here you will have free time to enjoy a refreshing swim or purchase beverages and lunch (not included in the tour price).

Departing Perissa you will travel to Red Beach located by the village of Akrotiri. Red Beach is extremely unique and beautiful, well known for the unique color of the sand and the hill behind it. Soaring red lava cliffs drop right to the sandy shore and into the clear blue sea making for a majestic setting.

Your last stop will be a local, authentic Santorini winery. Santorini is well regarded for creating superb wines. The vines are cultivated in low basket shaped crowns, close to the ground for protection from the winds coming off the sea. The nocturnal fog brings much needed water to the vines during the hot summer nights and together with the refreshing northerly winds provide excellent growing conditions for the creation of the Santorini wines. You will enjoy a short tour of the winery followed by a wine tasting.

Departing the winery, you will return to Fira town. When you are ready to return to your ship, you can purchase a cable car or donkey ride back down to the tender pier.
