The deep cliffs of the Gorges du Verdon are unique in Europe. This magnificent canyon straddles the departments of the Var and les Alpes de Haute Provence. You will set out from Cannes on the two hour drive to the gorge. Photo stops will be made as you drive to Moustiers along the left river bank of the Gorges, passing the Ste Croix Lake, one of the largest lakes of the region. The scenery is imposing, each sight seems increasingly nicer than the last one.
Moustiers , the city of Faience pottery, was been built in the shape of an amphitheatre at a height of more than 2,000 feet above the valley below. Its colors change throughout the seasons : the yellow of the broom, the purple of lavender, the gold of the poplar, the silver of olive tree, the blue of the sky and the pink of the cliff when the evening draws in. That's why numerous artists and painters have chosen to live there.
Upon arrival, you will be given free time to explore this picturesque setting. Ever since the 16th century, the village has been known as an important center for faience and pottery. You will have the opportunity of visiting the numerous galeries and to meet with some of the local artists. Time for lunch on your own will also be provided.
