Departing the pier, you will drive to the quaint harbor town of Antibes. A walking tour through this walled medieval town will show you its quaint streets, squares and its Provencal market. If walls could talk, they would share the history of the old fortified city and tell of the famous characters who once lived there or passed by: G. de Maupassant, V. Hugo, J. Verne etc.
Visit the Provencal Market in the heart of the old town. You will then visit the fabulous Picasso Museum housed in the Grimaldi' castle (13th century) which is built on the ruins of an older Greek acropolis. The modern art museum houses one of the world's finest collections by Picasso who painted and decorated parts of the museum in the late 1940s.
You will have free time to examine some of the more than 200 pieces of his artwork. Modern art by important 20th century artists representing different art movements is also part of the museum's collection. Artists include Hartung, Klein, Magnelli, Music, Pagès, Picabia, Pincemin, Raysse, Spoerri, Viallat and many more.
On the terrace there is a permanent exhibition of sculptures by Germaine Richier. Other artists exhibited there include Joan Miro, Bernard Pagès and Anne and Patrick Poirier. After your tour, you will drive back to the pier.
