"Those who seek paradise on earth", George Bernard Shaw once wrote, "should come to Dubrovnik." Today, he might add that Dubrovnik is the place for all those who wish to renew themselves and their faith in human nature. After meeting your guide on the pier, you will drive to a scenic overlook where you will have the opportunity to have a bird's eye view of the walled town of Dubrovnik and the scenic Croatian coast. You will then drive to the Pile Gate entrance of the walled town where you will begin your walking tour. As you pass through the thick walls you will find yourself at the beginning of the main street - the Stradun.

A walk along the Stradun will show you a few of Dubrovnik's Renaissance buildings that survived the earthquake of 1667 and will give you an idea of the city's architectural heritage. Perhaps the finest Renaissance highlight is the Sponza Palace which dates from the 16th century and is now home to the National Archives. The Rectors Palace is a Gothic-Renaissance structure from the 15th century which was the seat of the Government and Rector or the Republic. It has finely-carved capitals and ornate decoration which gives us a glimpse into how the ruling class lived. The St. Saviour Church is another remnant of the Renaissance period and is located next to a Franciscan Monastery. The monastery's library consists of more than 30,000 volumes including valuable handwritten documents.

After the walking tour of Dubrovnik, you will have a free time for exploring the city on your own. At the appointed time and location you will meet your driver for the return trip to the pier.
