After meeting your professionally-trained guide, you will drive to one of the most charming spots of the Bosphorus, the Ortakoy district. This residential area has attracted attention since the early days of the city's existence. Used as a resort area for sultans during the Ottoman period, the district hosts significant historical assets such as the Ciragan Palace and the Hatun Mansion. Other notable structures include the Ortakoy Mosque and the Kabatas Erkek Lisesi Private High School which counts prime ministers, members of parliament and famous writers on its list of graduates.
Ortakoy is now one of Istanbul's most hip neighborhoods boasting trendy boutiques, atmospheric cafes and bistros, that attract crowds of young, sophisticated residents and visitors.
After your visit, you will drive to Sariyer and the Sadberk Hanim Museum. The museum occupies two separate buildings of charming nineteenth century wooden villas originally used as summer homes. Rare objects collected over the years, costumes and artifacts reflecting the lifestyles of past centuries, valuable fabrics, and gold, silver and porcelain wares are displayed in the museum. After the Koc family acquired the archaeological collection of Huseyin Kocabas, the building next-door was purchased and added to the museum to provide space for the exhibition's priceless collection.
Returning to the city, you will visit the exotic Grand Bazaar area where you will have the chance to see a special demonstration on Turkish Carpets and have the opportunity for shopping. After free time in the Bazaar, you will return to the pier.
Please note: the covered area of the Bazaar is closed on Sundays.
