Maui - Kahului: Haleakala Crater Tour
Your cruise excursion begins with a once in a lifetime, dramatic drive through upcountry Maui on your way to the Haleakala Volcano. Located within Haleakala National Park, this is an area of astounding diversity and beauty, covering over 30,000 acres of wilderness. It preserves the distinctive volcanic landscape of the summit area and protects the pristine Kipahulu Valley and scenic pools at Oheo Gulch.
Haleakala is home to many of the world's 13 ecosystems including: alpine cinder desert, subalpine shrubland and grassland, montage bogs, dryland forest, high elevation cloudforest, low elevation rainforest and coastal rainforest. Take in the sights of the sugar-cained plains and protea farms of Kula as you travel beyond the tree line to where cacti and rare Hawaiian silver swords grow right up to the volcano’s crest.
Haleakala is an active, but not currently erupting volcano. Its last eruption occurred more than 200 years ago in 1790. One of the world’s most spectacular views is from the 10,023 foot summit where you can marvel at all of Maui below. Haleakala’s crater itself is 3,000 feet deep, 7.5 miles long and 2.5 miles wide. Many cinder cones rise from the crater’s floor, the tallest being Pu’u o Maui measuring 500 feet tall.

Hilo: Volcanoes National Park & Rainbow Falls
This exciting excursion includes a 4,000-foot trip up to view all the magnificent glory of Volcanoes National Park. The park highlights two of the world's most active volcanoes - Kilauea and Mauna Loa, and offers insights on the birth of the Hawaiian Islands and views of dramatic volcanic landscapes. Explore the summit of Kilauea volcano, one of the most active volcanoes in the world via the Crater Rim Drive. This 11-mile drive encircles the summit caldera and passes through desert, lush tropical rain forest, traverses the caldera floor, and provides access to many well-marked scenic stops and short walks.
Experience the spectacular mix of fire and water as this tour takes you as close as possible to explore plumes of sulfuric smoke, vast evidence of lava destruction as well as active lava flows that are constantly shifting. Witness spectacular lava tubes, steam vents, sulfur banks, and fascinating scenic look outs. You will also explore the renowned Jaggar Museum, featuring displays of equipment used by scientists in the past to study volcanoes. The museum offers a sheltered view, through large picture windows, of the caldera and the main crater of Halema'uma'u. The overlook outside the museum also has a spectacular view of the volcano with interpretive displays about Kilauea. No trip to Hawaii is complete without a trip to Volcanoes National Park.
As you descend the Volcano you will also explore some of Hilo’s most interesting surrounding areas including Akatsuka Orchid Nursery and Rainbow Falls. These beautiful falls get their name from the rainbow that is often visible in the mist that rises as the water cascades to the rocks 90 feet below. Your last stop is at the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Factory.

Kauai: Journey to Waimea Canyon
Fondly known as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific", Waimea Canyon offers spectacular views that rival it’s mainland cousin yet with its own island personality. It is the largest canyon in the Pacific and truly a dramatic sight to behold. The canyon measures 10 miles long, 1 mile wide, and more than 3,500-feet deep. It was carved thousands of years ago by rivers and floods that flowed from Mount Waialeale's summit. The lines in the canyon walls depict different volcanic eruptions and lava flows that have occurred over the centuries. Even though smaller than the Grand Canyon of Arizona, Waimea Canyon rivals the beauty.
We take you up to 3,400 feet to the canyon overlook and provide a visual history along the way. The actual canyon is bursting with ever-changing color and yellow ginger, eucalyptus trees and Kauai’s own mokihana berries grow right up to the 3,500 foot elevation.
Waima, located on the western end of Kauai, offers a rich history and plenty of adventure. The town’s claim to fame is the landing spot where Captain Cook first set foot in Hawaii in 1778. We also visit Old Koloa Town, established in 1834, situated in the heart of Hawaii’s first sugar cane plantation.
