Your day begins when our friendly tour guide picks you up in our comfortable touring van equipped with rear and front air conditioning and large viewing windows on all sides of the vehicle.
The first segment of your tour will take you to Kauai's East Side where you will marvel at the island's best beaches, mountains, waterfalls and Heiau's (sacred ancient Hawaiian sites). Have your camera poised and ready as inspiring photo opportunities are available throughout the day.
The Tour continues with a visit to the Wailua River Marina where you will board a spacious, open-air river boat for a two-mile leisurely journey to the Fern Grotto. Once ashore you'll enjoy a short nature walk through the rainforest to the lush Fern Grotto. The Fern Grotto is a geological wonder of Kauai where ferns grow upside down from the roof of the grotto. A natural amphitheater of lava rock and tropical vegetation are the perfect backdrop as you are serenaded and entertained by Hawaiian musicians and hula dancers. The Wailua River is Hawaii's only navigable river and is also a popular place for water skiing and kayaking.
Next, you will visit the Island's Northern most point and will see the Kilauea Lighthouse and the nearby Kilauea Wildlife Refuge and bird sanctuary. You'll most certainly get a glimpse of many seabirds including the Laysan Albatross, Boobies and Tropic Birds as well as Nene Geese which frequent the area. During the winter months the Kilauea Lighthouse is a great place to watch for Hawaii's seasonal visitors, the Humpback whales.
The Best of Kauai Tour also includes stops and views of the Sleeping Giant, Hanalei Bay, Hanalei Taro Fields, Anini Beach and the North Shore areas. Sugar cane fields and remnants of the old plantation days dot your tour route and our knowledgeable tour guides add to your sightseeing experience with tales of Kauai's past.
During the tour, a stop will be made at the Wailua Marina Restaurant. You will have time to relax, stretch or purchase lunch or a cold drink at this local's favorite where you can feel a real sense of Aloha.
