Set out from the center of the downtown area and visit the scenic districts of Sodermalm, Norrmalm, Östermalm, Kungsholmen, Djurgården, and the old town of Gamla Stan, each with its own special character. You will visit the island of Djurgården, regarded as Stockholm's amusement and recreation center with great museums, parklands and gardens. View the Diplomatic quarters and elegant townhomes in Östermalm, the modern shopping and business areas at Hamngatan and Sergels Torg, and the island of Kungsholmen where you will see the impressive City Hall, the site of the annual Nobel Prize Banquet. A photo stop will be made at Fjallgatan with its magnificent view of the city. You will also drive across Gamla Stan, the city's old town and home to the Royal Palace. The driving portion is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Next, transfer to a boat and leave the inner city behind, as you pass beautiful buildings before entering the peaceful Djurgården canal that passes through the island of Djurgården. The island, which is close to central Stockholm, is beloved by both locals and tourists. The canal was built on royal land, (since the fifteenth century) on orders from King Charles XIV and was first opened in 1834.
The canal opens up into the main channel leading from the Baltic Sea to downtown Stockholm, The tour continues back along the shores of Djurgården towards the city offering views of the city only available from the water. The cruise portion is approximately 50 minutes.
The tour is guided in 8 languages on headsets. Stops are only for photos, there are no interior visits made during this excursion. Tour order may vary but all mentioned sights would be covered.
This tour leaves from a location in the center of Stockholm, not the cruise pier. Transfers are not included.
