You will meet your transportation in St. Mark's Square and depart by private motor launch. On your right, you will pass the Island of St. George. In ancient times, it was called the Island of Cypresses for the Cypress Trees that grew there. In 982 the Republic gave it as a grant to Giovanni Morosini, who founded a Benedictine monastery on the island. On your left, you will see part of the ancient Arsenal building from whose yards the powerful Venetian war fleet and merchant navy went out to sea, securing the wealth and greatness of the city for centuries. At its peak, it employed over 16,000 workers.

After crossing the lagoon, you will arrive at Murano, well known throughout the world for the particular quality of the glass, which has been produced here for centuries. You will visit one of the better glass factories and see how a master glassmaker creates his masterpieces. There will be free time to browse the glass collection gallery after the demonstration.

You will then proceed to the island of Burano. The unique atmosphere of Burano arises from the unity of the island, the intimate connection between the inhabitants and the lagoon, the brightly colored one-story houses with their narrow entrances and the canals. This island is well known throughout the world for the art of lace-making. After your visit, you will rejoin your motor launch for the return to the St. Mark's area.
