St. Croix Shore Excursions

About St. Croix

Clear turquoise water, soft white sandy beaches, lush tropical forests, and excellent fishing. These are things you'll almost certainly find while visiting St. Croix island during one of many amazing St. Croix shore excursions.

St. Croix, a U.S. territory in the Caribbean not far from Puerto Rico, is the largest of the three islands (St. Croix, St. John, and St. Thomas) that make up the U.S. Virgin Islands territory. It's well-developed yet less commercialized than other tourist destinations, so you'll find a more relaxed and tropical retreat while still having access to plenty of restaurants, banks, and museums.

The best time to visit St. Croix is from April through June when temperatures are in the mid to high 80s (Fahrenheit). This is when the ocean waters are ideal for snorkeling, kayaking, and swimming. But St. Croix can be visited year-round because even in the colder months, temperatures average around the high 70s.

Things to Do in St. Croix

There are so many adventures to be had in St. Croix. You can live it up on an adventure tour and go horseback riding, kayaking, and scuba diving. The Buck Island Reef National Monument is especially popular with snorkelers and scuba divers. You can also rent a boat and enjoy the sea on your own or charter a boat for a private tour with a local expert who can show you around the island.

If you want to take it easy, there are guided or self-guided tours available for sightseeing and enjoying nature. There are some amazing private photography sessions as well, which is a great way to experience the island and get some unforgettable shots to take home. You can also take a relaxing walking tour through the popular "Rain Forest", which isn't actually a rainforest, but still quite amazing!

If you want to spend time on one of the beaches, check out the popular Rainbow Beach on the west end of the island near Frederiksted, Turtle Beach on Buck Island, or Cane Bay Beach on the North Shore. You can relax on the warm sand, swim and play water sports in the crystal clear waters, or seek out three of seven species of endangered sea turtles on the shores, which are usually nesting during the summer and early fall. In the evening, you absolutely must visit one of St. Croix's rare bioluminescent bays

For some history, take a visit to the Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve where you can learn about the lives, traditions, and history of St. Croix's aboriginal peoples.

For the adults of the group, book a multi-hour food tour or visit the famous Cruzan Rum Distillery in Frederiksted and Captain Morgan Rum Distillery in Kingshill.

You can experience the beauty of St. Croix right off the cruise ship. Choose a full-day trip excursion to experience more of the island or go on a half-day excursion and spend the rest of the day visiting the Christiansted Boardwalk for some shopping and great food.

Looking for a peaceful vacation? Fancy a thrilling one? The island of St. Croix has it all. So which adventure are you in the mood for? There's so much to see and do on St. Croix island that you'll need more than one trip to experience everything!
