Great excursion

Our bus driver, David picked us up by the Tram and drove us to Mendenhall lake. He was very entertaining and engaging.
When we got to the lake we were given rain boots and life jackets. John was very informative and an excellent guide for our Canoe adventure. Our party consisted of 4 adults and 2 children, ages 11 and 13. We canoed to Mendenhall Glacier and we stopped at Nugget Falls. There were lots of opportunities for beautiful photos.
We were pretty tired after our adventure but it was all worth it!

Mendhenhall Glacier and Nugget Falls

If you enjoy being active, consider this excursion. There were about 18 of us in a canoe (paddlers on outside and some rows sat someone in the middle). Enjoyed being on the water, seeing the glacier. Wish we would have spent more time at Nugget Falls as that felt rushed. Overall, 4 stars. Did not see any wildlife while canoeing; however, the staff was extremely knowledgable and friendly.

Would highly recommend the 2 pm time. Was much nicer earlier in the day and we were the only boat on the lake. A really fun experience!

Our canoe trip to the glacier was the best excursion we have ever taken. The guides were excellent and our crew were very good at rowing. The weather was perfect and the lake was like glass. Getting that close to a glacier was pretty cool too! Definitely take this tour!

Meaghan was wonderful, so was Kenneth. We had so much fun A+++++ beautiful weather was great. We also got less then 50 yards from Glacier Thanks to the weather. Well worth it.

I really liked being able to canoe out to the Glacier, felt good to get a workout. When we did stop and dock by the waterfall our guide had a delicious snack for us, complete with salmon dip!

The setting in a beautiful tranquil lake, with a glacier and and cool falls as the landscape this canoe excursion is a fun and beautiful excursion.
The guides were knowledgeable and courteous, it’s the perfect activity to get to know your fellow travelers.

Canoe Experience

This was a really fun experience! The guide did an wonderful job to guide the young men/ladies to paddle up close to the glacier. That was amazing and very memorable for our family!
Our family including three teenage had a great time for our first canoe experience! My husband in the last minute decided to give up his fishing trip to join us for canoe. He enjoyed so much and felt lucky he made the right decision.

Beautiful Opportunity to Paddle near the Glacier!

Our guide was knowledgeable and a strong lead on the lake. We got to canoe close to the glacier and stop on the shore next to the nearby waterfall. I would give 5 stars to the guide, and 2 stars for the people on the canoe! Many people opted out of rowing or were really inconsistent, which was frustrating. If you take this excursion, know that you should be doing a little work! My in-laws are in their 70s and did more paddling than the majority of the other large party that were on our canoe. Still, it was a beautiful experience!

It will take some time and effort to row over to the glacier area (and back!) but will be worth it. Close up to some floating ice, wade in the water (they provide boots) near a water fall, get nearer to the glacier front. Leader tells stories and points out interesting stuff.

Fabulous experience

The guide was fabulous. Paddling across the lake to this glacier was amazing. You can be fit or not - i.e. let everyone else paddle. It's really a dragon boat, so you paddle just one side. Cant get as close to the glacier as I would have liked, but was able to touch an ice berg - a piece of ice that had broken off from the glacier.

One of the best excursions we have taken in our 4 Alaska cruises. Professional guides made the tour great fun while making sure everyone was safe. It was great fun to row rather than just being innactive. Eric and Devin were wonderful, and bent over backwards to make it an enjoyable trip for all.

We thought this was a really great experience and had a great time. Be prepared to do some work (paddling), but you'll have fun.

Mendenhall lake glacier viewing from a canoe

The group paddling was fun. We approached the glacier and watched it calf. We had a much better view of it than if we had done the walking tour. We got back in plenty of time to board the ship.
