Helicopter Icefield Excursion

It was the second time I did the helicopter tour in Juneau but this Time with shore excursions was My favorite.

Seeing the mouth of a glacier is fantastic but actually standing on the glacier and seeing how it weaves like a river is beyond words.

I am afraid of heights but I wasn't one bit afraid in the helicopter. Too many things to look at! We enjoyed our pilot and her descriptions of the area. Top of the glacier was exciting for both of us. My husband is disabled so we really appreciated that we could do this.

My wife and I had a wonderful time on the Helicopter Icefield Excursion. The staff was very friendly and the Pilot was very professional and safe. It was a blessing to see the vastness of the glacier up close. I would DEFINATELY recommend this excursion and this company for future visits.

This by far was the highlight of the trip. Many had never been in a Helicopter before, our pilot, Harley, was the best. He was very informative, pointed out everything with great detail, not to mention the smoothest ride ever. Harley definitely made the trip more enjoyable.

This was a great trip. My wife and I sat in the front and I took video that was amazing as we went through the clouds. I also think I was more interested in the learning about the helicopter at one point than the glacier but that was me! :) First time in a helicopter. The view was fantastic, walking on the glacier was amazing and it was worth the money

This was an awesome excursion. There was a bus ride to the airport. Bus was very clean and the driver did a great job. It was a very short ride. We had a safety meeting and put on some icefield gear. Beautiful helicopter ride to the glacier. Once we set foot on the glacier it was like another world. No matter what the temperature is in town come with a winter coat. You will need it. Also don’t forget to bring a water container so you can drink the glacier water. And then take some back to the ship. I will do this again any time I’m in Alaska.

Part 1 - Sadly, this trip was cancelled due to weather conditions on the glacier. We had been warned by friends that this was a real possibility because of Alaska's unpredictable weather. I give it five stars for the way Coastal Helicopters handled the situation. Their representative called us as we were exiting the ship, explained the situation, apologized, and advised that she was immediately filing for a refund. Part 2 - On the dock we we able to sign up for a bus tour to the Mendenhall Glacier. The cost seemed excessive, especially to get a reserved seat for the bus ride back. But we were glad we saw the glacier. Just be prepared for unbelievable crowds. Buses stream in non-stop, with 3 or 4 cruise ships in port at the same time. We were glad we paid extra for the reserved seat on the way back, since those who did not pay for them were stuck waiting in long lines. Glad we did it, but we won't need to ever go back.

We took this excursion based on the fact that it offered us greater flexibility in terms of landing spots. As we’ve read, weather in Alaska can be unpredictable so we wanted to maximize our chances of success. This trip was very successful! Our pilot was courteous and insightful and we enjoyed ourselves immensely as we landed on a glacier! If you’re even thinking about doing this excursion, don’t sync. Just book it!

Just a perfect way to see a glacier up close. Pilot and the whole ground crew were great. Pilot even gathered some snow for one of the other passengers that was wheelchair bound so he couldn't leave the helicopter and had never touched snow.

Absolutely fantastic!!!!!! Wish it was twice as long. Make sure to bring an empty water bottle along so you can try the pure glacier water! It’s delicious.

This was probably one of the most memorable excursions we have ever done. It was magnificent. The staff and pilot were amazing. Absolutely do this helicopter adventure; you will not regret it at all!!!

First time in a helicopter and I was a little nervous. After the first minute into the flight, all nerves went out the window and it became an incredible experience. Landing on a glacier was amazing. Walking on ice that was thousands of years old was unbelievable. We highly recommend this tour. Suggest is to bring an empty water bottle so that you can get a drink of glacier water.

This was a once in a lifetime experience! Pricey but worth every penny of it and part of the money goes to preservation of the glaciers. Just awesome!

Most of your time is spent preparing to board the helicopter with a short safety video, instructions on how to board, etc. We were super excited to sit up front with our young pilot. She didn't say much during the flight as the motor and propeller was quite loud. The Glacier is amazing! Brilliant blue water is seen in small crevices and deep holes. You walk around for a bit, with care, as it's slick, even with the slip on ice shoes which are provided. It was very cold, even with the many layers I wore. I returned to the helicopter to sit inside and the pilot came unglued that I opened the door by myself, chastising me about how expensive doors are, were I to break it. She was a good pilot, but zero personality or people skills. The short flight back was unnarrated and the scenery is beautiful!

We had an amazing time on the helicopter icefield excursion! The pilot was professional and made us feel comfortable. Exploring the icefield was such a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it!

Don't think, just do it. Worth every penny. Once in a lifetime opportunity. Knowledgeable staff and amazing pilots. We were taken to Hebert Glacier, away from the swarms of cruise excursions. Small groups made for a more personal experience. 100% would book this again if ever given the chance to return. LOVE LOVE LOVE

What an awesome experience! Our pilot Star (yep, that's his name) was amazing! The weather was great, we got to visit a glacier that was "less travelled". Star took his time with the flight, he was knowledgeable and the ride was so smooth. If you have the opportunity, take the time, take the chance and just do it! Once in a lifetime opportunity!

Booked Helicopter Icefield Excursion and it was truly a wonderful flight and experience. The pilot was very knowledgeable of the area and careful to warn passengers of hazards in the icy area where we landed. He monitored our safety, took photos and was very friendly to all aboard. I highly recommend this trip.

Unfortunately our tour was cancelled due to weather. However, Shore Excursions Group handled the refunds automatically and seamlessly back to my credit card accompanying a notification email. So I did not have to call or contact anyone to get the refund. I will no doubt be using them for future cruise excursions as they give me peace of mind about my booking.

We have been on several cruises and many shore excursions. This excursion is by far the most memorable for our family of five. Everything was professionally handled from preparation, to the helicopter ride, to being out on the glacier. It takes a lot to wow our 15, 12, and 10 year old boys. And they were in awe of God's amazing creation out on the glacier. Thank you for the amazing day!

We initially booked the mushing excursion, but due to weather and circumstances beyond shore excursions control, it had to be cancelled. To say we were disappointed was an understatement, but we were assured that the ice field excursion was amazing. They were right! The helicopter ride itself was exhilarating, and once on the ice field, it's like time stood still. The sky was clear and the ice glistened in the sun. We brought water bottles and scooped up the clean, fresh, delicious glacier water. Talk about bottled at the source. We were in awe and would do it all again!

Totally mind blowing. We had a picture perfect day to fly. They were so accommidating to my wife with mobility issues and even had lift to get her in helicopter. She was able to also with help get out on ice field and walk a bit. The flight was perfect, crew was perfect, day was perfect, and a once in a life time experience. Would highly recmoment if you do nothing else in Alaska.

My daughter and I took this wonderful tour during our Alaskan cruise! It was the highlight of our trip! We were so thrilled to actually land on a glacier! I highly recommend this tour!

This was a father daughter excursion. The company was well organized. Pilot answered all of our questions inflight and while on the glacier. My daughters first time in a helicopter and was thrilled. Standing on the glacier, wow!. And we both drank glacier water. Great!, Great! Great!

SEG had to reschedule our tours due to windy weather making us 2hrs late, no fuss, no worries. Modern, clean coach and driver met us at the pier as promised. Our pilot was very professional and knew his stuff. His skill at landing high on the glacier and his informative commentary were exceptional! If you do nothing else in Alaska, this excursion is a must!

Our pilot was great! Nice smooth ride and landings, very professional. The view to and from the glacier was spectacular. There really is nothing like walking on a glacier and drinking water from it.

We went on the vacation of a lifetime and this was the highlight. I always thought that the Grand Canyon was the greatest site in the USA. I was wrong. The helicopter view was amazing but words just can't explain the absolute thrill of walking on a glacier. Do it! You won't regret it!

The experience was outstanding. Everyone was extremely professional, kind, courteous and efficient. The excursion itself was breathtaking. The pilot was diligent in our safety and provided many interesting facts and pointed out things of interest. I was initially apprehensive and nervous about taking the excursion, but once in the helicopter,I felt safe and relaxed under his competent handling of the craft.

My best side trip of our Alaskan cruise. It was a little pricey, but the views from above and on the glacier were well worth the price. Our pilot/guide was very knowledgeable and helpful once on the glacier. Helped us with our footing and walking while on the ice. Once in a lifetime experience for me!

We had a great time on this excursion. The best part of our trip! Our pilot (Robbie) was excellent, helicopter seemed well maintained. Glacier was unbelievable and the colors were out of this world! Highly recommend!

This is a great excursion! We weren’t able to go up to where the dogs were due to the clouds at the time. We decided we’d go ahead and ride on up to the glacier and explore it. It was great! All 9 of us will remember this forever!

Once in a lifetime opportunity to fly above the gorgeous terrain and land on a breathtaking glacier. Our pilot was super nice and capable. He made us all (even those of us who weren't too sure about the helicopter thing) feel at ease and we loved it! Our cruise director told us "Get on a Glacier" and he was right. AMAZING! Shore excursions was great... easy booking, great vendors and even automatic credit when plans changed due to weather. Will definitely book again with them if we're lucky enough to need them!

Nothing could top this experience in Alaska. If you only do one excursion on your trip choose this one. You honestly don’t need to do any others. Chance of a lifetime to sip fresh Glacier water and see true beauty.

Lucked out with a beautiful day for this activity. Lots of safety rules and procedures but presented and carried out in a friendly and helpful way. Took off and flew over spectacular scenery - beathtaking views coming and going. Pilot/Guide was friendly and knowledgeable - we learned a lot. The glacier walk was amazing - definitely a once in a lifetime experience. This was a highlight of our Alaska visit - and would recommend unconditionally.

Wow! What a great way to see Alaska up close and personal! Our narrated tour on the way to the glacier was wonderful with a chance to get a bird’s eye view of the natural landforms around Anchorage and understand it even more through our pilot’s narration. It was a beautiful clear day and when we landed on the glacier we had time to explore its beautiful blue crevices and ask questions about its formation. I would highly recommend this excursion to anyone visiting Alaska!

One of the highlights of our Alaska cruise was the helicopter excursion we took in Juneau to the glaciers. There were just 4 of us on our helicopter with our pilot and he gave us a great scenic tour before landing on the glacier, which was a thrill. As a keen photographer I managed to get many excellent shots, both of the people as well as if the glacier and the crevices with the brilliant blue colors. An unforgettable experience with a great pilot!

I really enjoyed this trip. The helicopter ride was so smooth and our guide was very interesting. We walked on the glacier for about 30 minutes. Lots of fun and well worth the cost.

I highly recommend this excursion. It was a beautiful way to see the glacier. I was surprised that there were rain coats available as well as boots. Everyone was very nice and it went smoothly.

This was definitely the highlight of my week-long trip to Alaska! Words can't really describe what it's like to be on a glacier, it's such a different world. I highly recommend this excursion.

Perfect day for this! Great pilot! Very smooth ride, great views, informative guide/pilot, felt very safe on the Glacier with the special boots provided. Best part of my trip to Alaska!
