Haines, Off-The-Beaten-Track

This was one of the most enjoyable excursions on our cruise, and the first of more we will plan with Shore Excursions. We were greeted in Skagway by a representative who ensured those with booked tours were on the ferry in good time. When we arrived our tour guide met us and took our small group on a very personal tour. We had great discussions and saw many sights and places one would not be able to with a large group. The guide was flexible and stopped for us to take pictures and introduced us to the Haines Brewing Company where we enjoyed a sample of spruce bud beer. Our tour concluded with a picnic lunch by the bay and some great discussions about Haines. The Hammer Museuem, artist John Swenson and the park and a stop by the Saturday Market where the set from White Fang is, along with the beautiful scenery and information made this exceptional.
