Harrison's Cave and Beach Day

Barbados
March 27, 2020
Our group tour ended up being a private tour for just me and my husband. It was wonderful! The tour guide showed us so many great places in Barbados besides the beach and the caves. He even walked us out to our chairs on the beach. We had a great time on this tour.

rainy day but still a good tour

Harrisons Cave is an place to visit. It is an exciting tour and they provide everything you need to see a great underground wonder. They drive you in a trolley. The explanations were very good. Unfortunately it rained, so the beach was not as enjoyable, but that sometimes happens. It is interesting that our tour guide told us it was the dry season in Barbados. But they get rain sometimes in the dry season.

Guide was great

Our guide was great but the cave was a bit too modernized. I thought we were going to walk into the cave and not sit on a tram the whole time. I liked the history about the cave in the video.

Harrison's Cave a highlight
August 24, 2019
Harrison's Cave is truly a unique experience on a Caribbean cruise. The natural wonders of the cave are so accessible and educational. Our bus tour guide was quite informative as well and enhanced the visit. The time at the beach was pleasant and it was nice to have an umbrella for the shade.

Half the trip was very good; half was mediocre

The Cave trip is well done, very interesting, an easy ride thru the cave with excellent narration. The island has turned this natural site into a worthwhile tour, especially if you have not seen really exceptional caves. The Beach Day was rather disappointing. The "private chair with umbrella" was one among long rows, 3 to 5 deep from the water. It is a very large, busy beach. You can get in the water, but you have to watch for the catamarans, skidoos, and other craft coming to and from shore to pick up and drop off people purchasing various rides, snorkeling, etc. The 'free drink' ran out of rum punch mix and you had to go to a separate place for your beverage. They did have a lot of food options, and we had a good lunch with a locally caught fish. When I got back to our ship and looked at our reservation, I realized we had been picked up an hour early; however, the family was not upset as they did not particularly enjoy the beach portion of the trip.

Excellent Day
March 14, 2019
So glad we decided to take this tour. Our guide was very good. Harrison’s Cave was fascinating. The tram ride had two stops where you could get out to take pictures which was a good addition. The beach we went to afterwards was stunning with white powder sand and warm water. Our tour included a rum punch, beach umbrella and two chairs. They provided changing room facilities a bar and restaurant/take out. Would highly recommend this tour

An amazing Day!
December 05, 2018
An amazing tour, was worried about booking an excursion not offered by the Cruise line but they understand you need to get back to the ship on time and work with you. Some of the people on our excursion had an itinerary change and needed an to be back an hour earlier and they accommodated that while, also not taking away from the rest of us. The caves were amazing to explore and Pirate's Beach was amazing, the water was nice and blue. Was able to unwind and relax!

Great day in Barbados!
December 04, 2018
Even though we have caverns where we live, we wanted to experience the "ride through the cave"! Our van driver was on time & easy to locate. He got us to Harrisons cave promptly & we went right in with no waiting! We enjoyed riding through the cave & photographing the scenery. Note: sit on the left side facing forward & not in the back 2 rows of seats for the best views. After the cave we were taken to Copacabana Beach where our lounge chairs, umbrella & the best rum punch were waiting for us to enjoy. Our driver had arranged for another driver to come back for us. He was right on time & we were returned to the port with plenty of time before "all aboard". It was a great day!

Very pretty and interesting

Harrison's Cave has a pretty interesting history and is very nice to see, but if you've ever been to Luray Caverns in VA. they are kind of minor! It's always nice to spend time with natives of the islands and see how proud they are of their homelands! We decided to skip the beach portion of the tour!

Great relaxing day
July 23, 2018
It was by far the longest excursion of the cruise and it was nice not to feel rushed. Just FYI, you take a tram into the caves - no hiking (barely walking) is required. It was interesting to see and very comfortable inside the caves. We got to spend about 2 hours at a very nice beach (Pirate Beach?). Lunch wasn't included but we got drink tickets for soda. I would definitely recommend this excursion. It was a great day!

Adventure and Relaxation
February 15, 2018
We were concerned about take an excursion that wasn't through the cruise ship. Our worries were for nothing. It was easy to find the tour company at the port. Our driver was friendly and knowledgeable. Harrison's Cave was enjoyable, but not as large as many of the U.S.caves . It was nice to be on a tram which ran on a paved surface. Be prepared to be dripped on by drops of cave water! The guide was well versed and made the adventure interesting. On to the beach! It was so beautiful and inviting. Covered loungers were available as were hammocks and a play area for kids. You had to have a ticket to enter, so it was not crowded. The excursion included a drink. A reasonably priced buffet lunch of island food was available or you could order a hamburger, etc. We had the buffet ,which was delicious, and ate sitting at the outside covered bar area. There was a calypso group playing and singing. This location was my husband's favor part of our cruise experience. Very relaxing.

Beautiful adventure, loved the caves and all the information our guide gave about it, you do get wet/damp being down there and your hair may frizz, if its prone to damp humidity, but over all worth the trip, however there was no "beach day" to our trip, don't know if they forgot or didn't plan on it at all, but don't advertise it as part of the day...
