Copala Colonial Tour

Copala Colonial Tour
February 06, 2020
After patience while the tour group sorted out which people went where, we were finally on our way. Our tour guide was a relaxed, informative guide giving us highlights and history on the long drive up the mountain, far out of the city. This was our favorite tour to say the least. Loved seeing the true life of the native people, especially the home that makes bread. Long day, but so glad we experienced it.

Informative but stressful

We learned a lot on our tour to 3 different colonial towns, and our guide was very knowledgable. The historical part was certainly worth it! The start was incredibly slow since they brought us to a Tequila factory where tourists from hotels and other ships were brought together and re-sorted into the respective tours. Since we went back to the harbor a couple of times to pick up stragglers (not our fault that they were late!), we didn't get any chance to look at the factory and/or gift shop. While that didn't bother us too much, we also lost about an hour of a long tour. We left the last mining town (65 km away from our ship) about 45 minutes before all-aboard time (which we had shared again and again), and made it back to the ship 15 minutes after all-aboard time (15 min. before departure time!). Needless to say, we were very concerned that we would not make it back before the ship left and were not able to truly enjoy the last hour in Copala.

Fun Historial MazatlanTour

The Capala Colonial Tour was excellent. Our tour guide was very informative with many historical, ecological, cultural facts that made the coach ride very interesting. Malpica, Concordia and Copala are rich with history, cobbled stone streets, an early colonial Mexican church with relics of the 1700s, delightful townspeople who are very talented and welcoming. Very nice lunch. Excellent driver who maneuvered his way through the winding roads and tight curves. A full day of fun. We returned back to the ship in time to shower, have dinner and evening activities.

My husband and I took our 4 boys (15-21 years old) and one girlfriend on a cruise and I booked this tour through Vista Tours. Our tour guides, Susana and David, were fantastic! Susana was very knowledgeable and David was a very safe driver. The three towns we visited were small and had a lot of character. All of the kids enjoyed what they learned. It was one of their favorite excursions.

What an amazing tour! We saw 2 historic churches, wood furniture making, pottery making with an outdoor kiln, a phenomenal bakery inside someone's home where we were able to buy DELICIOUS baked goods, had a lovely lunch, also in someone's home, and met & saw & purchased beautiful hand crafted, artistic leather goods from an amazing artisan! What a day! We're doing the same cruise again in September, and taking this tour again! Hoping for the same great guide! WONDERFUL!!!!

Perfect "off the beaten path" tour - really enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone. We were 2 "older" couples and this was great to see the countryside and meet local artisans and quaint towns.

This tour was such a good way to see Mexico. We got away from the big city and went into the small villages, experiencing the culture and actually prices that you would expect for Mexico. Although the trip was not what I expected from some aspects it was better than expected from others. After getting back to the ship and hearing about the different excursions that were taken that day we were so happy that we made the choice that we did. If you're looking to get away from the port and the commercialism And really experience Mexico this is the trip to take.
