Private Island of Capri and Anacapri
Private Island of Capri and Anacapri
On the southern edge of the Gulf of Naples lies the Isle of Capri, often called the "Island of Dreams." Roman emperors Augustus and Tiberius found peace and beauty here, as have the many celebrities who have visited the island. When you see Capri's impressive cliffs and brightly colored villas during this full-day excursion, you will understand the island's universal appeal.
After meeting your professionally-trained guide, you will take a short walk from the tender pier, to where you will board your hydrofoil for a 20-minute journey across the waters of the Gulf of Naples to the Marina Grande Harbor on Capri. On arrival, join your transportation for a 30-minute transfer to Anacapri. Along the way, enjoy magnificent views of the island as you traverse winding roads. Once in Anacapri, enjoy a visit to Villa San Michele, the splendid home of Axel Munthe. A Swedish author, physician and friend of King Gustav V of Sweden, Munthe built his villa where the estate of Tiberius once stood. Several marble pieces acquired from the rubble of Tiberius's villa are on display inside, and incredible panoramas of the island may be seen from the gardens.
Enjoy time at your leisure before re-boarding your transportation for the 20-minute journey to lovely Capri Town. On arrival, you may choose to independently explore the town or to follow your guide on the short walk to the Augustus Gardens. From the park's spectacular vantage point, you can view the Marina Piccola and the legendary Faraglioni Rocks, three enormous rocks that protrude from the blue waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea. After your visit to the gardens, you will have approximately two hours to independently enjoy lunch, visit the famous shopping street of Via Camerelle or wander through the central square, known as the Piazzetta. Then, rejoin your guide and travel to the Marina Grande, where you will re-board the hydrofoil for the journey back to Sorrento.
Please note: Due to size of vehicles used on Capri, this tour can only accommodate parties of 12 or less per guide. The tour does not include a visit to the Blue Grotto. Guests may attempt to visit the grotto during their free time but should be aware that waiting time for a boat may use up most of your free time.
