Horseback Ride: Country Side and Alto Vista Chapel
Horseback Ride: Country Side and Alto Vista Chapel
What a fun way to see the natural terrain of Aruba, on horseback in a group no larger than 10 guests.
After your transfer from downtown to the stables and a safety briefing, you will be assigned a horse and head out on a trail ride through the "Cunucu," or Aruban countryside.
As this tour does not cross streets or include galloping, it is a perfect ride for children or beginners. Helmets are also provided.
One highlight of the tour is the visit to the hidden lagoon where the local residents - donkeys, iguanas, parakeets and more - can be spotted. You will see that many of them like having their picture taken.
A stop for photos will also be made at the Alto Vista Chapel, a small Catholic chapel that stands out from its surroundings. The present chapel dates from 1952, and stands in the same location as the original chapel built in 1750. The total ride time is approximately two hours.
Due to the tropical climate, the horses in Aruba are much smaller than the horses in the USA or Europe. You can compare them with Arabians. The following horse types can be found: Paso Fino, Trocha, Trotton, and the South American Quarter Horse.
