Delphi Full-Day Tour

Delphi, in Greek mythology, was the site of the Delphic oracle, the most important oracle in classical Greece. Now Delphi is a modern town and archaeological site that contains rich Greek history, including ruins, monuments, and temples. The Delphi tour will depart from Athens and go through the city of Thebes.

When you reach Delphi, you will see the Castalian Spring, where visitors once stopped to wash their hair before approaching the Delphic Oracle. From there you will visit the famous Temple of Apollo. On your Temple of Apollo tour, walk among the ruins of this 6th Century B.C. temple that functioned as an oracle, where people came for prophetic predictions of the future. In the Museum of Apollo, examine ancient artifacts from Delphi, including the bronze Charioteer, the Naxian Sphinx, and the Statue of Antinoos.

After working up an appetite, your group will pause for a lunch break (expense not included). On the way back to Athens, you will stop in the quaint mountain village of Arachova for a chance to tour this lovely town built on the slopes of Parnassus. Known for its beautiful carpets, Arachova is the perfect place to buy a souvenir or visit local shops for cheese and wine. This Delphi one-day tour is an ideal Athens day trip that will take you back in time to the glory of classical Greece and allow you to see the remaining beauty of the area.
