Private Eagle and Wildlife Watching Tour

Departing from the downtown Ketchikan area, your private charter will motor around Pennock Island, through Nicholas Passage and on towards the Mt. Point area. Along the way, you will see the lush foliage of the temperate rainforest, distant mountains, and a different scenic view around every point of land. The boat holds no more than six guests on this Ketchikan cruise excursion. The boats used range in size from 28 to 40 feet in length, have an indoor heated cabin as well as outdoor deck space and have a very basic head.

Our goal on this Ketchikan excursion is to see as many of the natural inhabitants of this area. Although wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, your captain knows the spots where wildlife tends to gather. He will also be in radio contact with other captains reporting sightings. We will try to see eagles up close and on a lucky day see them swoop down to the water to catch a fish. Have your camera ready for a great photo opportunity. You may also see owls and ravens in the air.

You will want to keep your eyes on the water as well as orca and humpback whales, can often be seen splashing amongst the islands. Other marine inhabitants include seals, sea lions, and porpoise.

Along the shoreline, keep a watch for Sitka blacktail deer and in the late summer, black bears that can often be seen on the beach.

Not only will you get an up-close, private tour of the natural beauty of this unspoiled area, but you will also get a feel for what it is to commute from one of the many islands where people live to Ketchikan. You will also see commercial fishing boats at work or in the harbor keeping Ketchikan the Salmon Capital of Alaska.
