Exclusive Veneto Hill Towns Day Trip from Venice

Take a day trip from Venice for a relaxing day in the Veneto Hill Towns to encounter beauty and new experiences. You'll visit places like Marostica, Bassano del Grappa, Asolo, a Palladian Villa, and the Prosecco wine region. Your friendly English-speaking guide will tell you everything you've ever wanted to know about the places you're seeing on this comprehensive and exciting Veneto Hill towns small group tour.

Visit the medieval town of Marostica and get a great view of its ancient walls, well preserved and still intact. Along with its remarkable castles, Marostica is home to the famous living game of chess, played every two years by enthusiastic residents who dress as chess pieces. While at Marostica, enjoy some free time to walk around this lovely small town.

After Marostica, tour Bassano del Grappa, where you will see the Palladian bridge, which crosses the Brenta River. You will enjoy touring this beautiful area as you stroll around its narrow streets and look out at the incredible views of the surrounding hills and mountains. You might even want to sample some of the local liquor called "grappa" if you're in the mood for a strong taste of Italy. Known for its locally produced ceramics, porcini mushrooms, and other local specialities, shop during your free time and get a taste of Veneto culture.

The last hilltown you'll visit is the enchanting and elegant Asolo, known as the "pearl of Veneto" and "The City of a Hundred Horizons." See the beauty of Asolo as you visit scenic gardens, rich green hills, magnificent villas, and Renaissance palaces.

Continue on to Villa Barbaro, if your tour is any day from Tuesday through Sunday, or Villa Emo, if your tour is on a Monday. Both villas are known for being true models of Palladian country houses, created by the architect Palladio. Although the Villa Barbaro is the more noted because of its famous frescoes by Veronese, the Villa Emo is also an important Palladian structure and encapsulates Palladio's original design, which includes quaint gardens and frescoes created by the artist Zelotti. It is possible that the Villas will not be open on certain days, because they are privately owned.

End this small group Veneto hills tour with a casual wine tasting at a winery in the Prosecco wine region. With views of the terraced slopes densely filled with vines, the winery will offer you a splendid tasting experience. As you tour the Veneto hill towns, the intimate settings and limited number of people in your group will give you a quality experience not found on many of the area's tours. Walk through enchanting towns, taste traditional cuisine, and sample delicious Veneto wines as you make memories that will truly last a lifetime.
