St. Thomas Historic Hassel Island Kayak, Hike & Snorkel
Historic Hassel Island Kayak, Hike and Snorkel - a tremendous St. Thomas Triple Play Tour!
Depart from historic Frenchtown and paddle along the eastern edge of Hassel Island, part of the Virgin Islands National Park, with breathtaking views of the bustling Charlotte Amalie hillside. Paddle to the beach at The Garrison House and hike up a short rocky trail to Fort Willoughby, a former Danish and British fort built during the Napoleonic Wars. This is one of the most intact British Naval forts in the Caribbean.
After a snack and photo opportunities, walk back to the beach and launch the kayaks to paddle into Careening Cove, where historically ships traveling from Europe were hauled and repaired. From there, it's a brief paddle to the Creque Marine Railway, built in 1840s at a cost of $250,000. This building is being restored by the U.S. National Park Service.
A five-minute paddle will reward paddlers with a visit to a secluded and picturesque beach, offering a choice of snorkeling a beach side ledge, enjoying a cool dip, or relaxing in the shade. This tour features two-person, easy to paddle, sit-on-top kayaks.
Please note: Your St. Thomas excursion departs from and returns to the Frenchtown Marina in Charlotte Amalie Harbor. Transfers to and from the marina before and after your tour are not included in the tour price.
