Hipster Oslo

From free thinkers, musicians and artists to parks, vintage shops and cafes, there is plenty to discover in the diverse city district of Grunerlokka. A traditional working class district from its factory days, this city is fast becoming a vibrant, artsy neighborhood. Go behind numerous old industrial buildings lining the Akerselva River and see the explosion of designer shops springing up.

Walking around town is an adventure in itself; meander past graffiti-covered houses and down a narrow street and look up to be greeted by a giant chandelier! Climb up the quaint street of Damstredet, where you'll definitely want to stop to take a photo of the charming hillside houses. Then check in with the dynamic trio: Ibsen, Bjørnson and Munch at the Our Savior's Cemetery.

If you are craving a cup of java, you are in luck, as you are never more than several steps from a coffee shop.

Grunerlokka is the childhood home of Edvard Munch, a famous Norwegian painter best known for his painting The Scream.

If you love art and trendy neighborhoods, then you don't want to miss Grunerlokka! Sign up for this tour today.

Please Note: This tour ends at Vulkan in the Grannerlokka district, so guests may continue to enjoy the area or visit the food hall Mathallen after the tour. Mathallen is closed on Mondays.
