Island Encounter and Beach

Drawing on its English, African and West Indian roots, Barbados has established its own distinctive identity, evidenced in its customs, traditions and values, and passionately expressed through rich history. Begin your Barbados tour and travel inland through roads lined with cane fields, swaying palm trees and rolling green hills. Your first stop of the day will be Welchman Hall Gully. The gully was formed when the roof of a cave collapsed hundreds of thousands of years ago. Today along the gully trail one can see some of the cave formations such as stalactites that once adorned the cave. The gully is now a lush tropical paradise where many plants and trees thrive. A large troop of Barbados Green Monkeys call the gully home and we hope to see them at play and observe them during their feeding time on our visit.

Continuing, you next head across the island to The UNESCO World Heritage site of the Garrison Savannah. This site is home to the George Washington House, the Main Guard and the St. Anne's Fort. Your tour will circle the area and your knowledgeable guide will point out the various historical landmarks and explain their significance.

No visit to Barbados would be complete without spending a few hours at one of her beautiful beaches, this is where you can relax away the remainder of your tour. Carlisle Bay has the whitest sand in Barbados and the most brilliant turquoise water. The Carlisle Bay Marine Park has 6 shipwrecks and is home to diverse and colorful marine life that includes turtles, star fish, sand dollars, sting rays and more. Discover Pirate's Cove, located on the Northern end of Carlisle Bay, just steps away from the islands capital of Bridgetown. The beach at Pirate's Cove is lined with coconut trees and dotted with thatched umbrellas. On arrival at Pirate's Cove you will be presented a welcome drink and ushered to your very own place in paradise complete with a beach lounger and shared umbrella. The bamboo bar is a great place to hang out and have a pirate's brew or a signature pirate's burger (at your own expense). Local and international cuisine is available along with a craft market and souvenir stands to make your experience a complete one. On the beach, there is a kid's zone for the little ones and beach toys for adults who are still kids at heart or crave a bit of adventure. Freshwater showers, changing rooms and washroom facilities are also provided for your comfort.

Please Note: Guests must be able to step in and out of tour vehicle. This tour is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties or back problems. The Green Monkeys described at the gully are wild animals, they are not held in an enclosure, they come and go as they please and therefore there is no guarantee of seeing monkeys.
