Jungle Jeep Adventure

During this Belize shore excursion explore the wonders created by mother nature when you go off-road and hit the dirt paths passing by orchids, wet-lands and jungles and experience the cultural history left behind by the native Indians, the Maya.

Meet your guide and board your transportation as you drive out of Belize City while being provided a brief tour of the area.

Your destination is the community of Hattieville where your jeeps are ready and waiting for you. You will be briefed on safety measures and the rules of the road before setting off for your jungle adventure, following your guide who will always be with you throughout this Belize excursion.

Experience this ecosystem which begins as a pine savannah before turning into a forest leading to the hills that form the beginning of the Maya Mountains. Where these ecosystems meet the plant and wildlife are abundant.

Belize is home to 587 bird species and approximately 20 percent are migrant birds that come from North America to spend the winter months. A few species that you may see could include the Jabiru Stork, yellow headed parrot, yellow headed vulture and the Keel-billed Toucan, Belize's national bird.

You will also learn Belize is home to approximately 140 species of mammals of which approximately 50 percent are bats. This country is also the habitat to 5 felines including the Jaguar, Margay, Ocelot, Jaguarundi and the Puma. There are approximately 250 species of orchids here including the national flower, the black orchid.

Belize is also home to a cave system and your guide will take you to one of these with a stop about midway through your adventure. Learn how the caves were formed and the use of the caves by previous cultures, including the Mayas.

After your stop at the cave, continue down the jungle path before exiting the forest trail near the Sibun River. Begin the drive back to the main headquarters and after arrival be provided a typical Belizean meal and get a taste of the country. After your snack you can relax in a hammock in the main palapa or take a swim in the fresh waters of the Sibun River.

Return to the pier area and your tender in the air-conditioned comfort of your transportation on the approximate 30-minute ride.
