Private Berlin's Jewish History

A private visit to the Holocaust Memorial and the New Jewish Museum highlight this tour that focuses on the darkest part of German history

Departing the pier, you will drive through the Mecklenburg countryside for approximately 2 hours, passing wide fields and charming villages on your way to Berlin. Upon arrival in the city, you will meet your local professional guide outside the Charlottenburg Palace. Take in the facade of this marvelous site and don't forget to take some pictures!

You will then set out on an orientation drive that will include views of the East Side Gallery (a remaining portion of the Berlin Wall), and a photo stop at the New Synagogue, dedicated in 1866 and regarded as the greatest and most glorious Jewish cultic building in former times.

You will then spend approximately two hours at the Jewish Museum. Opened in 2001, this museum is one of the most spectacular museum buildings in Germany. It is so profoundly moving and significant (although not a Holocaust Museum) that it has to be experienced to truly understand. Your visit will include a guided tour and free time for independent exploration. A boxed lunch from Liebermann's Restaurant is included.

You will then continue your city orientation drive, passing by the Gendarmenmarkt, the Tiergarten and stopping for photos at Checkpoint Charlie, the Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate.

You will then stop at the Holocaust Memorial, where you will have the opportunity of visiting the Visitor Information Center. This will be followed by a short walk through the Jewish Quarter of Scheunenviertel. After the visit, you will rejoin your transportation for the drive back to the pier.
