Paddle your way through breathtaking scenery and wildlife to a destination across the waters, where you'll trade your canoe for hiking gear. Venture to the glacier's edge, journeying through time as you trek onto the ice.

Arriving at the edge of Mendenhall Lake, receive your gear and enjoy a short safety orientation/briefing. Then, point the bow of your 8-person canoe toward the monumental Mendenhall Glacier and paddle along with informative guides across the beautiful lake. Pass glowing blue icebergs of all shapes and sizes, observe reflections of the grand peaks of the Coastal Mountain range, and drift by various natural wonders: icebergs, arctic tern nesting cliffs, and giant waterfalls. You willl also encounter wildlife sightings, spotting animals such as mountain goats, black bears, porcupines, otters, beavers, eagles, and arctic terns!

Reaching the landing point on the beach, trade in your paddles for backpacks and trekking poles. Venture to the glacier's edge and onto the magnificent ice, traveling through time as your professional guide shares the natural history of Mendenhall. During this Juneau tour, your guide will help you explore the stunning glacial landscape. Some of the glacial formations you MAY see include crevasses, ice caves, moulins, melt water streams, and pools. As a glacier is a constantly changing landscape, the actual sights seen during your trek will be finalized the day of the trek, and will be based on weather, glacial condition, and guest safety. The amount of time on the glacier is dependent on the group's pace and weather conditions for the day. After your trek, return to your canoes and paddle back across the lake, once more enjoying the bevy of gorgeous sights.

The entire family can enjoy this glacier trek experience, regardless of past paddling or trekking history. With a maximum of twelve participants at a time, professional guides are happy to outfit and orient you according to your ability and skill set. Book this truly captivating Juneau cruise tour for an incredible day spent paddling and trekking across Mendenhall Lake and atop stunning glaciers.

Please Note: A rescue fee of $250 US per person will be charged for any rescue based on the guest's inability to complete the trip, due to undisclosed medical conditions/limitations or insufficient level of physical fitness significantly inhibiting the group's pace.
