The capital of Tuscany and cradle of the Italian Renaissance, Florence is one of the most important and beautiful cities in Italy. Visit the town hall, the fortress-like Palazzo Vecchio with it's soaring bell tower. Outside, in the Piazza della Signoria, take in the imposing figure of the god of the sea at the Fountain of Neptune, where he stands tall, surrounded by laughing satyrs and charging sea horses. The piazza also has a reproduction of Michaelangelo's David, or you can go see the real deal at the Accademia di Belle Arti. Or visit the wonderful Uffizi Gallery to see pieces like Botticelli's The Birth of Venus.

If Gothic architecture is your interest, visit the elaborate Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore in Piazza del Duomo, right in the heart of the city. Whether it's walking on the narrow streets and exploring the cafes and restaurants that offer some of Italy's finest food and wine, experiencing the history and art of the region at the numerous museums and monuments, or simply taking in the Renaissance architecture, Florence is a city of beautiful experiences.

Close to the Eastern coast of Italy, sitting on the Serchio River at the base of the Apuan Alps, Lucca is famed for the Renaissance-era fortress walls that surround the old town. The walls are now a promenade, and you can walk atop them, or even bike around them, as a way to look over the town.

Architecture fans will enjoy the beautiful towers and churches like San Frediano with its elaborate mosaic facade. See the spectacular San Michele in Foro, built atop an old Roman forum, striking in its beauty with intricate sculptures and tiers of blind arcades. Visit the cafes and restaurants in Piazza della Anfiteatro, located in the centre of town. This city square is circular in shape, and the traces of the ancient amphitheater it was built on are still visible.

Please Note: This tour is self-paced with a custom itinerary of your choosing. The tour does not include entrance fees, parking fees, tolls, or gratuities.

Though your English-speaking driver can provide commentary while driving you around, they cannot act as a guide outside of the car. The driver will be happy to make suggestions about the best places to eat throughout the day.
