Private Monet in Giverny

As this is a private tour, your guide will discuss with you what the more important sites are you want to see that day, and fine tune the tour to your preferences. A popular itinerary to this region includes the following.

Departing from the cruise pier in Le Havre, you will drive for approximately 120 minutes through rural France to the tiny village of Giverny. It was here in this small corner of Normandy, that much of the inspiration for Claude Monet's impressionist genius began.

One option, and certainly the most popular with most guests, is to visit the famous garden and farmhouse that have appeared in so many of Monet's landscapes.

You will recognize the footbridge, winding paths through immaculately-tended, landscaped gardens and of course, the lily ponds.

You will also have the opportunity to view the interior of the house with its distinct pastel-colored rooms, rustic furniture, and personal touches added by Monet himself.

Another option is to visit the Musee des Impressionnismes Giverny. The village was the location of an American artists' colony around the turn of the nineteenth century. These American artists began to experiment with the impressionist style, resulting in a long-lasting link between the art of America and France. Your guide will give you an overview of the museum before allowing for some free time to wander by yourself.

The total time in the Giverny area is four hours. The final itinerary will be up to you, admissions are not included in the price of the tour and will be the guest's responsibility at the sites. Admission to the Monet House is approximately 11.50 Euro. Admission to the Museacute des Impressionnismes is approximately 12 Euro. At some point in the day, time will be taken for a quick lunch on your own. From here it is approximately two hours drive back to Le Havre.
