Private Naples and Caserta

Explore the Italian coast like a VIP on this private full day tour. Your English-speaking driver/guide will pick you up at the cruise ship terminal in Salerno and chauffeur you and your companions to Naples and the Palace of Caserta. It's a luxurious way to see this wonderful part of Italy.

After a scenic drive, your private tour starts in Naples, the historic capital of the Campania region. Tiny, narrow streets wind their way around the city, held in check by the long, straight Spaccanapoli, which cuts its way through the center of the city. Following this main road you'll easily find many of the city's most beautiful attractions.

Take in the grandeur of the Piazza del Plebiscito, which is surrounded by the Royal Palace. This magnificent structure was built in the 17th Century and is the traditional home of the Bourbon Kings. Nearby is the Church of San Francesco di Paola, a domed cathedral with a portico that recalls that of the Pantheon in Rome.

The huge, imposing 13th century Castel Nuovo is another sight to behold, with its stately, stark medieval towers surrounding a marble triumphal arch that was added in 1443 to celebrate Alfonso of Aragon's entry to Naples.

Since you're in Naples, take the opportunity to enjoy the city's most famous dish, Neapolitan Pizza (at your own expense). You can find many delightful pizzerias in the city. Or if pizza's not your thing, your driver/guide can suggest where to find any of Naples's other delicious treats.

After lunch, it is on to the Royal Palace of Caserta. The "Italian Versailles" was the largest palace built in all of Europe in the 18th Century. It's a baroque delight, built for royalty, with ornate frescos and reliefs, dramatic staircases, dancing fountains, and English gardens.

Lightweight summer clothing and light layers are recommended, with sweaters and jackets advised for evenings and cooler months. Please note that some terrain in Italy is uneven, so keep that in mind when booking your tour. Vehicles are accessible for a foldable wheelchair or walker.

Bookings for this full day guided tour of Naples are available from March through November. Your guided adventure does not include entrance fees or tickets to local attractions. At the end of your adventure, you will be returned to the cruise ship terminal in Salerno.
