Private Nice and Monte Carlo Sightseeing
Private Nice and Monte Carlo Sightseeing
Departing from Monte Carlo with your professionally trained guide, you will drive along the Corniche to the bustling city of Nice. The capital of the French Riviera, Nice was named by the Greeks after Nike, the goddess of victory. Nice retains its superb medieval charm, much of it influenced by the Italian occupation in Nice's history. No place is it more evident than in the Old Town, where the scents of the bustling flower market along the Cours Saleya can be enjoyed most mornings, giving way to the aroma of socca in the afternoon.
After a walking orientation of the Old Town, you will have free time to explore its maze of narrow streets lined with Provencal treasures and treats. It's a perfect place for a progressive lunch on your own as you wander.
Then, drive back to the Principality of Monaco, where the atmosphere alters dramatically and becomes decidedly elegant, as perhaps the ultimate gem on this necklace of jewels. You will drive past the well-known Place du Casino, an architectural treasure since opening in 1878. Designed by Garnier, the Grand Casino is surrounded by the deluxe Hotel de Paris and the elegant Cafe de Paris.
From here, a short drive will lead you to the "Rock of Monaco" for your last stop of the day. During an easy walking tour in the Old Town, you will pass by the Oceanographic Museum and Aquarium, the Prince's Palace, and the Monaco Cathedral, the resting place of Princess Grace. From here, you will return to the pier.
