Private City & Ancient Cultures Tour

Tour Arica's past and present with your own personal guide on this private tour featuring Chilean culture. Begin your circuit with a brief visit to the town center and the Lluta River estuary, then on to an area declared a nature sanctuary due to the large number and variety of birds. Enter the Lluta Valley, following the international highway that leads to La Paz, Bolivia. A stop will be made along the way to see examples of Geoglyphs, made hundreds of years ago by the native people.

On arrival at the village of Poconchile, an interesting settlement from the 8th century, you'll visit the church, the village's main attraction. On descending into the Azapa Valley, the contrast between the desert and the fertile valley stands out in all of its beauty.

Next, visit the village of San Miguel where the main attractions are its church and cemetery, and the San Miguel de Azapa Archaeological Museum, where you'll get a glimpse of an amazing and synthesized display of the socio-cultural development of the central southern area of the Andes.

The museum's main attractions are the World's Oldest Examples of Mummification, the Chinchorro people. After lunch, you'll visit the local artisans' village for souvenirs and the Fruit Markets with a chance to see the fruits and vegetables of the area, including the traditional Azapa olives before returning to the port.
