Private Mendenhall Lake Canoe

Your all-inclusive private tour means everything is provided for you to enjoy the most panoramic and up-close experience with the Mendenhall Glacier. Be one of the very few to canoe across a glacier-fed lake in the middle of the Tongass National Forest, the largest National Forest in the United States.

Your canoe will hold a maximum of eight guests in total, so if you and or your family and friends are looking for the most intimate and personal way to see the Mendenhall Glacier, this is what you have been looking for. Your adventure into the Alaskan wilderness begins right at the cruise ship docks where you will be greeted by your local, professional guide who will sweep you away from the crowds and bring you deep into the Tongass National Forest.

Stay dry as high quality rain jackets, pants and boots plus paddling gloves are provided for each guest, which is extremely important as you will be experiencing the world's largest temperate rain forest. After a required safety briefing and some paddling instruction, the Mendenhall Glacier awaits you. A half-mile wide glacier with ice up to 1,800 feet deep, it's no surprise that Mendenhall is the most visited glacier in Alaska.

Your knowledgeable and professional guide will provide you with their expertise for you to gain a better understanding of the wilderness in America's Last Frontier. Launch the canoe to start your voyage across the serene Mendenhall Lake to the glacier. As you navigate across the lake, along the steep cliffs to the face of the Mendenhall Glacier, see the beautiful blue ice and feel the katabatic winds rolling directly off the glacier.

Steep cliffs carved by the glacier will surround you as you paddled towards the front row views of the Mendenhall Glacier. With time to soak it all in and explore, make sure to keep your eyes open for wildlife, Arctic terns, and the giant thundering waterfall.

Upon returning from your adventure on the lake, you will be welcomed by a delicious hot beverage as you de-gear from your equipment. After a short drive back to the cruise ship docks, your adventure may be ending but you will leave with the most astounding memories and pictures of a day that will last a lifetime.

Please Note: Guests need full use of all limbs for the canoe tour. This tour does NOT walk on the glacier. Canoes available for this tour require groups of at least 4 guests, up to 10 guests maximum, in order to successfully operate the canoe. Please take this information into consideration when booking.
