Private Taste of Lima

When you think of Lima it is easy to picture its beautiful plazas, cathedrals and colonial architecture - but dare to go beyond the typical tourist spots to experience Lima like a true local.

Your adventure starts by the fountain at the Plaza de Armas, the main square in Lima and centuries-old meeting place for locals.

Fan out into the district and stop at the longest operating bar in Peru, notable for the many presidents and politicians who have graced its seats over the years. From there you will walk a few blocks away to a popular street food area where you can try such traditional local delicacies as anticuchos (beef hearts) and picarones (small donuts).

On one of the busiest pedestrian streets in the city you will visit an old German bar famous not only for its lively piano music but also for the ghost of the original owner who is said to tickle the ivory each night.

Pop into a nearby 1920's grocery store-turned-bar thanks to the locals who would stop for a drink along with their groceries. While here, discover the many drinks that can be made from pisco in addition to the famous pisco sour.

Conclude your tour at the plaza of San Martin with its central statue of Jose de San Martin, an Argentine general and the liberator of Lima. Throughout the tour your local guide will share fascinating facts and stories about the city, people and culture of Lima.

Reserve your spot today to see a side of Lima that very few visitors get to see.
