Private Tour of Postojna Cave and Lake Bled

Say yes to this tailor-made opportunity to explore the largest subterranean cave system in the country and the popular alpine resort of Lake Bled. It's just you and your closest companions on this journey as you discover the beauty waiting for you above and below ground in Slovenia.

The adventure begins when your English-speaking guide transports you to the mouth of the Postojna Cave system, a hidden gem in the country that was formed by the waters of the Pivka River. Stand at the entrance that was blackened by the fires caused by the destruction of 1,000 barrels of German aircraft fuel stored in the cave during WWII. Step inside and be greeted by massive stalagmites and stalactites at every turn. Admire the various colors as well as the concert hall, an acoustic section of the cave that can hold up to 10,000 people for musical performances.

Then, you'll hop on the electric train to reach the more remote parts of the cave system. It is recommended that you wear a jacket for this portion of the tour, as the constant temperature in the cave is around 46 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees Celsius).

From there, you'll be escorted to Lake Bled, a charming lake resort in the Julian Alps. Enjoy a panoramic drive around the lake followed by a short walk along the shoreline. Head to Bled Castle, a centuries-old castle perched on cliffs with magnificent views of the lake and surrounding hillsides. During your free time, those interested can take a Pletna boat to a lovely island in the middle of the lake and view the medieval castle, with a glorious perspective on the lake. You can also stay on shore for some shopping, or simply relax with a cup of coffee in one of the many cafes before your scenic drive back to port.
