Private Rostock and its Beer

Departing the pier with your professional guide, you will drive into the city of Rostock for a private half-day Rostock city tour. On your way you will be introduced to the area of Mecklenburg, Western Pomerania, and its countryside.

Your city tour will include views of the University Square with its impressive fountain, and the main building of the University of Rostock, which was founded in 1419. It is the oldest university to be found in the Baltic. Continuing your tour, you will walk through the treasured monastery garden of the Holy Cross convent. On your way to the New Market you will see the town's oldest house, now the town's library. You will also see St. Mary's church and learn of its history. Arriving at the New Market, your guide will point out the town hall and the old post building and explain its history to you.

Next, you will visit a brewery complex in the modern city center of Rostock. After a brief explanation of the beer-making process, you will participate in beer tasting (three different kinds of beer), accompanied by a typical pretzel. Following the refreshments you will return to the pier.
