Valley of the Eagles Golf Links Excursion from Skagway

The Valley of the Eagles Golf Links is one of the most scenic golf courses in the world. It is located directly along the banks of the Chilkat River in Haines with amazing views of the Cathedral Peaks, Chilkat Mountains, and the Lynn Canal.

Beautiful blue glaciers and breathtaking waterfalls combine with the riverfront setting for an incredible experience for everyone.

Your Skagway shore excursion begins with a high-speed catamaran ride from Skagway to Haines. This catamaran is one of the fastest ferries in the country and takes you along the deepest and longest Fjord in North America. During the approximately 45-minute ferry ride, your guide will describe the area's natural history, geology, and native culture. Sea and wildlife abound, and there are regular sightings of eagles, seals, sea lions, and whales.

Once in Haines, you will be treated to a fascinating town tour including Fort Seward and the parade grounds. Fort Seward is a national historic landmark built in 1908, and was the first U.S. Army post in Alaska. The fort's interesting history and architecture are one of the cornerstones to Haines' unique flair. After visiting the fort, you will be transported to the golf course and outfitted with your equipment including clubs, pull-cart, 3 balls, and over-boots.

The next 3 hours will be spent enjoying the professionally designed par 36, 9-hole course. A fun and interesting course layout meanders through the beautiful and wild Alaska landscape. Abundant wildlife compliments the amazing mountain scenery with frequent sightings of spawning salmon, bald eagles, moose, waterfowl, mink, otters, wolves, and songbirds. The course was ecologically designed to enhance the salmon streams, maintain wetlands, and all vegetation is native to the area. Several viewing stations are equipped with binoculars and distributed throughout the course to maximize your opportunities to get up and close with the wildlife and the spectacular mountain and river views during the excursion.

After your time on the course, enjoy a delicious snack and hot drinks before you are transported back to the fast ferry and on to Skagway. While onboard be treated to additional details on Alaska and the surrounding beauty of the Lynn Canal. This is a great family experience and kids are welcome. Don't forget to bring your camera.
