Visit Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast

On this small group Rome day tour of Pompeii and Amalfi, you'll visit famous archeological sites, stroll through an ancient Roman city, and explore scenic viewpoints. With only 7 to 8 guests per tour group, this day trip from Rome offers an intimate experience as you see the best of Pompeii and the Amalfi coast.

Begin your journey with a scenic ride along the Amalfi coast, where you'll visit two of the most picturesque locations in Italy, Positano and Pompeii. Your first stop as you travel throughout the Amalfi coast is in Pompeii, one of the world's most well known archaeological sites. Your guide is an expert in the areas of architecture and history, and will take you through this ancient Roman city to teach you about the town's remarkable and tragic past. You'll visit the most famous areas of Pompeii, such as the food market, known as the Macellum, the thermal baths, dining areas, homes of wealthy citizens, and more. As you tour the city, preserved under a layer of volcanic ash, you'll learn about the civilization's ancient way of life and the geologic events that led to its demise. Afterwards, you will be treated to a light lunch at a family-run authentic restaurant, set in the hills and overlooking the magnificent Bay of Naples and Sorrento. You will also have an opportunity to try locally produced olive oil, as this lovely restaurant also serves as an oil mill.

The next stop is in the town of Positano, where you can stop to take in your beautiful surroundings. Amid the blossoming bougainvillea, you'll enjoy a breathtaking view of the entire countryside. The Amalfi coast is known for its dramatic cliffs and coastal scenery. Be sure to bring along your camera for once in a lifetime photo opportunities of this uniquely beautiful area. You will enjoy some free time, where you can visit the beautiful beaches and relax or have a swim. You can also take a stroll around the ancient fishing port and see the splendid majolica dome of the church of Santa Maria Assunta. Along the way, you will stop at another scenic overlook to enjoy the last magnificent view of this delightful part of Italy, and shortly afterwards you'll be admiring views of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius in all its glory.

On your small group Pompeii and Amalfi Coast tour, you'll have free time to make discoveries on your own, as well as the convenience of a knowledgeable and friendly guide. This trip caters to individual needs and ensures a fun and memorable day for all who come along.
