The beautiful mountain range is the longest continental mountain range in South America and is home to more than 3,500 animal species and 30,000 plant species. Throughout this Andes hiking tour, you'll have the chance to see many of these unique critters and get up close to the breathtaking flora that line your alpine trek.
Your Santiago tour begins at 8 a.m., when you're picked up and whisked away to San Jose de Maipo, a small commune next to the Andes. There you have the option of picking up snacks and lunch to take along on the ensuing hike. You'll then proceed to another nearby community and the starting point for your hike, Banos Morales. This mountainside village is known for its thermal pools, where visitors can warm up and relax; it's said that these pools may provide relief from skin conditions and other diseases like arthritis.
From Banos Morales, you'll start a two-hour journey into the mountain range with your knowledgeable guide; he will show you how to use your snowshoes to safely hike along the path. After your hike, you'll make a quick stop for a cocktail and have the opportunity to capture photos of a jaw-dropping panoramic view of the range. Following this stop, you'll go back to Banos Morales and begin your return journey to Santiago with plenty of new memories and beautiful photos.
