This short and concise tour is the perfect introduction to the Southern end of Bonaire.
Enjoy a smooth ride along the lush mangroves to Sorobon Beach and the breathtaking views of Sorobon Bay. There are actually not many beaches in Bonaire, but this bay area provides one of the few with a tranquil stretch of sand, complete with palm trees and calm waters in a gorgeous setting.
You will also get to explore one of the island's many lighthouses before seeing the remnants of Bonaire's dark history as you survey the white Slave Huts dotting the beach. These small structures were built in 1850 as a camping facility for the slaves working the salt ponds.
At the nearby Salt Flats, you will observe the vast salt pyramids and nearby salinas, or shallow pools of seawater. Huge mounds of crystals can be seen on Bonaire's south end where a US company is responsible for salt production and Bonaire's thriving salt industry.
Conclude your tour with a scenic coastal drive through downtown Kralendijk as you head back to port. Kralendijk is the capital of Bonaire where you will discover colorful architecture that dots the shopping street of Kaya Grandi in a lively and vibrant Caribbean town centre.
