St. Kitts By Land and Sea
Take a relaxing coastal sail in combination with an unhurried visit to unique island highlights on this appealing and inviting half day tour.
Conveniently starting at the cruise port, board a luxury catamaran and take a scenic sail down the sheltered leeward side of this enchanting island. Relax in the ocean breezes and enjoy the panoramic views of majestic Mt. Liamuga on your starboard side while you enjoy refreshments from the open bar. As you sail past Old Road Town, site of the first English settlement in the Caribbean, witness for yourself how the mighty fortress on Brimstone hill (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) secured the island from approaching sailing vessels.
Landing at New Guinea on the western tip of the island you will climb aboard your colorful Safari Bus for the land portion of your tour, passing through quaint villages such as Middle Island and Half Way Tree. The highlight of this portion of your tour will undoubtedly be Wingfield Plantation, granted in 1625 by the King of England to Sam Jefferson, a direct ancestor of the 3rd US President, Thomas Jefferson. Take a leisurely stroll on the grounds and see the preserved remains of an 18th century rum distillery, perhaps the best example in the entire Caribbean.
Make a stop at nearby Romney Manor where you will witness the ancient art and fascinating process of Caribelle Batik. Owned and managed by successive Earls of Romney over the centuries, no visit to St. Kitts is complete without a tour of the beautiful Manor and its pristine gardens.
Re-board your bus for your next stop, a photo opportunity at Timothy Hill providing views of St. Kitts' spectacular South East peninsula with the Atlantic on one side and the Caribbean on the other.
Finish off your experience with a drive through historic Basseterre where your guide will provide information and point out the interesting architecture surviving from colonial times before your return to the port and your ship.
