Sun Valley Plantation

Enjoy a 45-minute scenic countryside drive as we take you to Crescent Oracabessa, east of Ocho Rios, where the Sun Valley Plantation is located.

This is a working plantation and botanical farm owned and operated by Lorna and Nolly Binns. It sits along the Crescent River. On this Ocho Rios excursion, you will be treated to personal service every step of the way, as Lorna and her staff take you through a piece of Jamaican history and culture you will never forget. They offer enjoyable garden tours in a plantation setting.

Upon arrival, all guests are greeted with a welcome drink made with the current fruit in season.

You will have fun meeting and leisurely strolling about with your host on lands that are steeped in history, and have been producing a vast variety of tropical fruits and food for over 250 years. The 90-minute tour of the plantation tells the story of the property from the slave era to the present day.

Learn about tropical fruits and plants, and the therapeutic and medicinal values of the trees, herbs, and spices that grow plentifully on the plantation. Along the way, you can sample a variety of fruits straight from the trees, like the mysterious jelly (coconut), Otaheite apple and other exotic fruits (depending on what is in season).

Keep your eyes open for hummingbirds and other local birds. This tour is a treat for the eyes, ears, nose and taste buds.

At the end of your tour on the plantation, you will have the opportunity to taste several of the regional dishes, along with a variety of natural juices.

Please Note: Tour takes place outside. There is no large plantation Great House as you might see in the southern United States.
