The Beaches of Rio

Skip the tour buses and enjoy some downtime visiting Brazil's renowned beaches along with some local points of interest. Dig your toes into the sand at Leme Beach enjoying a fresh coconut water before you make your way to see the sun-drenched sand at Copacabana Beach.

Take note of the impressive Copacabana Palace facing the coastline. Inaugurated in 1923, this luxury hotel has a long history of hosting the rich and famous including Madonna, Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe, Justin Bieber, Diana Princess of Wales and Luciano Pavarotti. At the Fort of Copacabana you will learn some of the area's colonial history and enjoy beautiful views.

On the way to Ipanema see the rock of Arpoador, the best place to catch Rio's epic sunset. Stroll along Ipanema Beach and see the restaurant where poet Vinicius de Moraes and musician Antonio Carlos Jobim were inspired to write the famous song Girl From Ipanema. At Leblon Beach see the mountains seemingly slide into the surf then walk across the lookout point for great views and photos of the coastline. Take a break at a beachfront kiosk for local food and beverages and disconnect from everyday demands as you sit back on a beach chair, close your eyes and listen to the rhythmic sounds of the waves hitting the shore.

Throughout the tour your guide will share interesting facts about the area and the Carioca beach culture, popular beach sports, local music and art including the meaning behind Rio's iconic sidewalk patterns. Discover what the differences are between the famous beaches and what the local real estate market is like.
