Vanuatu Exploration and Coffee

Your senses will come alive when you take this tour that encompasses local grown coffee, native customs and culture, and a stop to one of the islands waterfalls considered a top destination.

You will first travel to a coffee factory that is a true Vanuatu success story. Tanna Coffee is grown in the South Pacific nation of Vanuatu under the shadows of the still-active Yasur Volcano. It is the active volcano's influence that makes this coffee so unique. The deep, rich soils, abundant sunshine and plentiful rain are the very essence of this truly natural, excellent product. Tanna Coffee accomplishes its award winning high quality through natural means: by hand harvesting only optimum, ripe cherries, same day processing, natural fermentation methods and sun drying. This ensures that only a true natural product is produced without the use of any harmful sprays or chemical fertilizers. The manual processing techniques are what make this coffee so unique, and it and it will delight any serious coffee drinker or discerning connoisseur.

Made up of approximately 83 islands, the geologically active archipelago is a natural playground of colorful coral reefs, bubbling volcanoes and lush rainforest. Warm and welcoming, with a rich and sometimes mysterious traditional culture, the Vanuatu people greet visitors as friends and are keen to share stories about their country, which has been declared the happiest nation on the planet. Your next stop will be the Pepeyo Cultural and Educational Village on the South-Eastern Part of Efate Island.

Visit the village and discover this mix of wildlife and culture at this stop. A local guide explains aspects of the Melanesian culture and offers a glimpse into the tribal history of Vanuatu, from cannibalism, volcanic activity and land diving traditions to their fight to become independent of the British and French in 1980. Enjoy a cultural show with singing and the amazing walk on pre-heated volcanic rocks. Just before you set off for your next stop, the boys will play a farewell song with bottles and bamboos tuned with water to end your village tour in style.

Continue on to one of the top "must see" places in Vanuatu, the Rarru Cascades, located at 5 minutes' drive from Pepeyo Cultural Village. With plenty of places to stop and take photos, you eventually make your way to a beautiful waterfall where you can also dive into the pool for a refreshing swim.

Next you will travel to Naiwe Beach. Get a firsthand experience hand feeding turtles. At high tide, if you are game, you can take a swim with the turtles at no additional cost. A delicious island style BBQ will also be provided, take a break, sit back and relax on the beach side while enjoying your lunch and go with the flow with island time.

Finish off the day with some shopping and a stop at the duty-free shops before returning to the pier area. A drop off at the wharf market is also available if you would like to continue to shop before re-boarding your ship.
