This pleasant excursion through New Zealand's capital city starts in the chic district of Courtenay Place before heading to Mt. Victoria for spectacular city and bayside views. Descending the Mt. Victoria ridgeline, you'll see (the surfer's beach) at Lyall Bay before driving to the south coast along lovely Oriental Bay. Finally, you'll motor by the beautiful Botanic Garden to see Old St. Paul's Church and the Parliament complex in the Central Business District.

The journey begins with a fun drive through Courtenay Place's entertainment and cafe district. Here, you'll see the restored Opera House and Embassy Theatre. Heading up toward Mt. Victoria, you'll encounter scenic views of the city and Pacific Ocean.
Then, it's smooth coasting down the Mt. Victoria's ridgeline, passing the Southern Headlands Reserve toward spectacular Lyall Bay. This bay is home to Wellington's largest beach and some of the area's best surf breaks.
After reaching the south coast, you'll reach a series of pristine bays, most notably Oriental Bay which, extremely popular amongst sailors, families, and sunbathers. It's also a stone's throw from the Central Business District.
Heading west, you'll climb the vibrant, rolling hills for amazing views of the slopes before passing the Botanic Gardens and the suburb of Thorndon. Here, in Wellington's oldest suburb, you'll visit Old St. Paul's. This wooden Anglican church is an excellent example of Gothic Revival architecture.
Upon returning to the Central Business District (CBD), you'll pass the conical Parliament House building, along with other government facilities composing the 'Beehive.'
