Private Biking Pisa to Lucca
This region, with its variety of roads and great landscapes, offers great opportunities for cyclists of all skill levels. Your English-speaking guide will ride with you and your private group of no more than four guests, at your pace, and give you information and assistance. You will be provided with a premium road bike, the right size to fit you, with aluminum frame and 24-speed to tackle any slope. Helmets and water bottle will be provided as well. A minivan fitted with a bike carrier will take you to the starting point and pick you up at the end. It will also be available all the tour long. You will be picked up from the cruise pier and drive to Pisa, approximately 30 minutes away. Upon arrival in Pisa, your guide will show the highlights of the town by bike, with the most time being spent in the Field of Miracles, where the Leaning Tower, cathedral, baptistery, and monumental cemetery are located.
Guests will have approximately one hour of free time here and the bike guide will give tips, maps, and answers to any general questions about the town. During this time guests can visit the sites and have time to grab a snack on their own. The highlight of your visit will be an opportunity to climb the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
You will then ride to Lucca, approximately one hour away. Here you will find a wonderful walled city whose city center is closed to vehicle traffic. You will discover the highlights, including the Cathedral, the Guinigi tower, the Amphitheater square and others; you will also go for a ride on the massive city walls as well. Your time in Lucca is approximately two hours.
After your visit, you will peddle back to Pisa through the Tuscan countryside. From here, you will drive back to the port, approximately 30 minutes away. Total distance biked is approximately 30 miles over predominately level roads.
Please note: This is a biking tour, not a historical tour; your guide will have a general knowledge of sites and local history. Tour duration and time at stops will vary based on the ability/speed of the bikers.
