An Educational Hike

The Eco-Walk is at the same location as the zip line excursion and on the same bus from the pier. I did the zip-line and walk, my wife chose the Eco-walk only, and we did the walk together. There is a scenic overlook with tables, shade and refreshments available for purchase at the start/end point. This is a good value considering you also get a half hour bus ride where you get to see and learn about the island. The guide on the walk tells you about the various plants and the native medicinal uses for them, and points out animals that you may or may not see (we saw iguanas, an active ant trail, and a vine snake). You need to be in relatively good shape as there are stairs and hills involved in a hot humid climate, including a long walk from the pier over a hill outside the shopping complex to the bus. I liked the suspension bridges thru the jungle and we are both glad we booked the excursions.

Pleasant viewing

We have been on several Hop-on, Hop-Off buses in the US and Europe. The trip in Palma was the most pleasant. The weather was nice, which always helps, but we really appreciated the variety of streets and parts of town, some cultural, some residential, some historic.

A beautiful island to tour

Although the tour description said that the Iguana Farm was the first stop, we were told that it was an extra stop and we had to pay $10 each to enter. ""Your first stop is the Iguana Farm"" is still in the trip information. A highlight of the tour was that our guide took us to a local restaurant for lunch. Our guide was very knowledgeable and personable. We would definitely use him again.

Beauty and Destruction

The ride into Christchurch was very scenic with many views down into the huge ancient volcano which constitutes the Banks peninsula. The visit to Christchurch fascinating and somewhat disturbing because of the degree of destruction still evident from the earthquake in 2011. It was enlightening to see how the population coped with the loss of 80% of the commercial establishments of the city. I would have appreciated more time in the beautiful botanic garden.

Enjoyed having only 6 of us in an air conditioned van. Driver was very friendly and answered all our questions. Showed us specific areas that we asked for and dropped us off at a local restaurant he recommended, which was excellent.

Birdsand Bison

Very knowledgeable driver. Really cared about the island and its preservation. Glad to have blankets in the back since the weather turned nippy and the wind 30+mph. Driver stopped to get up close to bison for pix. We were on time but thought the 30 min wait for another couple (who were chronically late for tours) was unnecessary. I would go again.

The stingrays are fascinating. You are in waist deep water and they swim up to you to get fed. Not at all aggressive. However we had some with the group who freaked out. It was very funny.

This was a great tour. This was my second visit to swim with the sting rays. I liked this tour better than my last tour booked through another carrier. For the same price, we saw the sting rays and snorkelled at a second location. The tour guides emphasized safety for both the sting rays and swimmers, this was not provided in the tour I booked with another tour group.
