Ward Cove Sea Cycle Wildlife Tour

Nature at eye level

Best day of our trip. Moon jelly fish at our feet, salmon and seals swimming by our side, bears in the wild and much more. Great exercise but we senior citizens did fine. Wonderful staff.

Beautiful experience on the water!
September 20, 2019
We had a beautiful sunny day to take our excursion. Vicki, the owner, met us on the pier not far from the ship. We drove a few miles to their dock which was located in a lovely cove. My husband and I were the only two for our tour, so instead of it being just 1 1/2 hours, it was 2 1/2 hours. Vicki gave us a lot of information about the local history and wildlife. We saw lots of eagles. We really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it to anyone who is able to sit and do easy peddling.

The best!
September 02, 2019
My husband and I loved this excursion! From the minute our guide Vicki picked us up I new we picked the right excursion! Sea cycling took us to the most beautiful parts of Ketchikan! As we peddled through the waters we saw Seals, Bald Eagles, a black bear, we held large star fish and jellyfish. Through Vicki we learned so much about the wildlife in this area and so much more. We loved that she took pictures and she was able to pass those on to us. We just had the most amazing experience! Thank you Vicki !!

Great fun

We were the lone participants on our excursion due to cancellations. The guide was personable and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed out time on the water. The seacycles were fun and easy to use. The provided photos were much better than we could have taken ourselves.

Fabulous!!
July 15, 2019
We had an absolute blast doing this excursion. We had a beautiful day in Ketchikan, the scenery was absolutely gorgeous and our guide was very informative. She pointed out all the wildlife that we saw and knew a lot of history about the area. I love that she took pictures of our family at a couple different locations. The eagle display at the end was incredible too. This is a family run tour and it was well run and organized. I would highly recommend this excursion!

Ward Cove Sea Cycle Wildlife Tour
July 15, 2019
The tour guide was excellent. I learned a lot my first day in Alaska from her, and very much enjoyed being out on the water. The only drawback was that she forgot her camera, and I didn't want to get mine out in the rain. The other family on the tour loaned her their camera, but they haven't sent me the photos on line yet.

Sea cycle adventure
August 29, 2018
This was by far the highlight of our Alaska vacation, and the best excursion ever. The cycles were fun and our guide was so accommodating and taught us a lot. We were entertained by eagles swooping for the salmon running through our waters in a cove, and seals popping their heads up. Even saw jellyfish and starfish which were a surprise to us in the colder waters. At the end we were invited to try different jellies that she had made from the fireweed and local pines, as well as a homemade salmon spread. Well worth the money for sure.

A Brilliant Little Adventure
August 06, 2018
'Cycling' in the sea may not be everyone's idea of fun, but if you are in any way adventurous, enjoy fresh air, like to connect with nature and would love to interreact with some seriously nice people, then spend a few hours doing this. This is a very slick and safe family operation and the home made food and hot chocolate at the end was just perfect. Then we watched in awe as the majestic eagles continually swooped down to take fish from the water right in front of our eyes. Breathtakingly beautiful. This was definitely money well spent and is highly recommended!

Something different!
June 11, 2018
We booked this first of all because this is a local family. This is an easy task and actually relaxing. Vicki gives lot of information on th area and we saw eagles, seals, and nature. The snacks that we were served were made by Vickie and were from what we had just seen. The spruce tip jelly was wonderful. Very nice family and wonderful excursion.

Exciting, active, and informative sea cycle tour
September 13, 2017
We truly enjoyed the sea cycle tour given by the owner who has lived in the area most of her life. She runs the business with a friend and both of their kids. The sea cycle was very easy to operate and stable (we had no concerns about flipping over). The tour to the cove was fantastic-we saw over 20 harbor seals just crusing around and popping their heads up. Our tour guide pointed out an eagle's nest with an eaglet in it spreading his wings. We saw sever full grown eagles as well. We were cycling for about and hour and we went to 3 different locations. At the end of the tour they served us snacks that they harvested themselves: two kinds of jellies, kelp pickles (delicious!!), and salmon spread. In the small harbor, we saw 2 eagles swoop in within 10 feet of us and snatch up some herring - great video opportunity! We experienced Alaska up close, saw wildlife, and got some very doable exercise. We highly recommend this tour if you want to learn about and see Alaska up close!

Great Hosts, Fun Day!
August 29, 2017
The two ladies who started this company are also your hosts and both are wonderful. The drive up was not only beautiful but very informative. The sea cycles are easy to use and although requires a bit of energy, it is also very relaxing among all that beauty. They took pictures of all of us (no more than 12 or so in each group) and email them for free. No hidden money making schemes. We really enjoyed the Alaskan snacks afterwards and got a kick out of the owner's sons helping out and chatting with all of us. Definitely a fun day.

November 21, 2016
This was by far the best tour of Alaska. Small family run business with that an awesome nature experience. Otters playing around us, unbelievable scenery, eagle diving or fish 3 feet from our sea-cycle. Amer made the tour special with so much local info. Thanks to her, Brent, Jackson, and Jake it was just perfect

Sea Cycle Tour
September 28, 2016
We enjoyed our sea cycling tour and seeing bald eagles up close, and the seals, starfish and salmon. It was very relaxing and the scenery was gorgeous. We enjoyed listening to Amber talk about the history of the area and the ecosystem. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to get up close to local wildlife in a small group. Good exercise but not difficult at all.

Private tour!
July 31, 2016
My husband and I ended up being the only people on our tour. Instead of cancelling due to lack of interest one of the owners, Amber, picked us up and did the tour. Amber was great as were her son's who were at the dock to help. The first part of the tour was ok but the second part, hanging out in the beautiful, quiet cove was peaceful. Wish we would've seen more wildlife. The reason I only gave 4 stars is the excursion was a bit too tame for our active lifestyle. Great for older people or maybe kids but we are a pretty active couple and we were a bit bored. That being said, spending time with Amber was great. She has a wealth of knowledge about her area in Alaska and we enjoyed learning from her.

One of the best excursion bargains
June 16, 2015
This by far was my favorite excursion on our 7 day cruise to Alaska. Our guides Amber and Vicki are two of the most pleasant gals you will ever meet.Once we peddled into the middle of the cove while we waited for the others to mount their sea cycles,my blood pressure immediately dropped while we gently bobbed in the water, taking in the scenery...heck we were in the scenery. We even got to see an eagle pluck a salmon out of the water and take off into the trees. You won't regret spending a couple of hours of historical and fact filled commentary of the area, while having a little fun and exercise in the process and having a tasty snack in the end.Thank you Brent and Jake for your assistance.

Great excursion
June 04, 2014
The experienced guides educated us on the history, past economy, cultural animal, sea creatures etc. of the place. We saw lots of curious seals up close & they followed us. We saw the crabs they caught in a trap. The exercise we got through sea cycling is just right ( we are 81 & 71 years old). View is wonderful.
