Ketchikan Sailing Adventure

My wife's a little nervous about the sailing aspect but once we got down to the trimarans she was settled very quickly as Dominic made the Safety and Instructions very easy to follow. After about twenty minutes of us sailing around under Dominic's supervision he let us loose so to speak. Absolutely breathtaking experience and the views were just amazing. Then out of nowhere Dominic had us rushing towards this point of a small island where we managed to get within 30 feet of three Humpback Whales feeding. It seemed that everywhere we looked eagles were soaring around us. If you get a chance to do this tour ask Dominic to take you to the small beach where he gets starfish and we saw more whales breaching. This was by far the best tour we had in Alaska and we saw more wildlife in Ketchikan than we did in the rest of Alaska. Thank you Dominic and Bruno (The Dog) for an amazing time with my family.

OK, this was a lot of money for the whole family - but it IS really worth it. We took the longer ("Sailing and Crab Feast") trip, to give us more chance to see the Whales - even though we saw the Whales early on, we were still happy with the longer trip, as there was no rush. We saw a family of bears and followed them up the narrows. They came so close and had no fear of us whatsoever - they don't see humans as a food source, or as a threat, so they are very relaxed (as long as we stayed quiet). Such an intimate experience being able to get a few meters away from Humpback Whales bubble net feeding. We took a Whale watching tour in Juneau but this was far better. A beautiful trip we shall remember for a life time.

We were so excited to go sailing and couldn’t believe how close we got to Humpback whales. Super easy to sail and when the winds died down they were still fast just peddling them. Wish we had extended the tour longer as we could have done that all day. We are 100% coming back and taking one of Dominic’s multi day tours.
