This tour was perfect. They gave us detailed information about the country and stopped at the best places. I definitely recommend this tour. Alex was amazing as well.

On 11/28/23 I had the pleasure of a wonderful experience. The transportation was excellent. Extra clean van. Excellent driver. Very knowledgeable guided tour guide by Alex. He was pleasant, considerate, professional and displayed pride in his country. I have no words with which to express the awesome views. Such a wonderful time.

We followed the directions supplied and met the staff after a 15-min. walk from the ship to an area just outside the terminal. Our guide, Alex, provided great commentary along the bus ride to the city center. Once at the center, we walked with Alex around about five blocks of highlights, namely the Cathedral, Umbrella and Pink Streets, and the center plaza. We then went to the site of the Spanish fort and given 10 min. to walk around the exterior. We then proceeded up the mountain to the National Park, where we got off the bus and were shown a typical farm site, gardens, and great views of the island, along with the Christ the Redeemer replica. Walking around at the mountain top was somewhat easy for my wife and I, but others may call it a moderate walk. We then took the cable car down the mountain to the bus, where we were given some delicious bananas and rum punch. The drop off spot is the same as the pick-up one. In all, this tour was very much worth it and we highly recommend it.

It was a 15 minute walk to get to the outside of the pier, but directions were good. Once outside, Winston was there to greet us and help us get to where we needed to be. The bus was nice, comfortable, and air conditioned. Winston’s knowledge and voice was so we could hear him. Felt safe. No time to visit the Fort, but the views of the ocean were beautiful. Saw so many things and took so many pictures. The Christ the Redeemer and gardens were a highlight of the trip. The cable car ride down was very scenic. Left us plenty of time to return to ship. Highly recommend taking this excursion.

Winston was a wonderful tour guide. Very knowledgeable always aware of the surroundings and vigilant to keep us informed safe and entertained! Highly recommended this tour, you will have a great time and be blessed to see the DR from an insider’s perspective.

We loved our small group tour of the island. Our guide was very knowledgeable and approachable. The variety of stops was great. Taking the sky lift to see Christ Redeemer was breathtaking. The grounds were beautiful. We highly recommend this tour.

Tour was great. Downtown walking tour was interesting. Winston gave us lots of interesting information. No time to go inside the fort but outside view and the crashing waves on the coast worth seeing. View from the mountain was gorgeous and cable car ride nice. We were not rushed and made it back to board the ship in plenty of time.

A first! Instead of taking us to street vendors selling water, Alex has a cooler of bottled water! Views were great, information all the better. Sadly the incline was closed for service but Alex kept the tour full of other views and experiences. Due to the cruise line's control of the port, we had to meet the excursion outside the port gates.

I would have rated this excellent, but the cable car was down for repairs. The tour guide (Alex) was one of the best we have ever had. He answered all our questions, his English was excellent, and he taught us quite a bit of Spanish. I have never seen so many beautiful plants and trees.

We had a fabulous time, beautiful city.

The tour as it's name to Explore Best of Puerto Plata for you, the guide Mr. Winston was very nice and friendly, he introduced you many details of the culture & history of the island, he also introduced you a special local beverage which was very nice for the hot summer weather on the island (if he could send me the name of the local beverage to my email address that would be perfect).

BEST of the Three places we went to on this Cruise. Totally worth it. (Lots of Walking). Guide was very knowledgible and and entertaining. Would go again!

Very informative View from cable car is spectacular

It seemed like a long walk from the ship to where the van was parked. But in reality it really only took about 10-15 minutes. If you have a problem walking this tour would not be the tour for you. When we got to the top of the mountain there was a lot of up and down walking. It was a very beautiful tour seeing the island and the rainforest and also the inner city in the big Catholic Cathedral. The young lady that was our tour guide did an awesome job explaining all the plans and how they lived in the olden days and the inner city working. The only downfall we had was the weather. It was sprinkling here and there a little bit of rain here and there but at the top of the mountain the clouds were so low we didn't get to see much and then the wind picked up so the tram was shut down. It's better to be safe and take the bus back down instead of waiting for the tram. But well worth the money. Bring a lunch with you there is no food provided.

Our guide was very informed about the area. He was not rushed. We were able to talk to the local people, walk through the town and learn about their history. He was a great host. The cable car ride was wonderful. We would highly recommend this tour.

Initially I had some reservations about this tour as we had to walk quite a ways to get to the pickup point. Along the way one helper assured me I would find it well worth it and was he ever right! Winston was the best guide imaginable. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable but personable and warm. I have never felt so comfortable on a tour!

We throughly enjoyed this excursion. Our guide, Winston, and our driver were excellent. We learned a lot and the trip to the top of the mountain was amazing. There were lots of steps to get to the top but well worth it when we saw the views and got to ride a gondola back down. Fruit and drinks were provided, which was very appreciated. We would definitely recommend this excursion to others.

First, we had a hard time trying to this tour company when we got off the ship. Once we read the directions, we were fine. Winston was a very informative, professional and accommodating guide. He made sure we were safe and all of our need were met while in his care. The sites we visited were amazing. This tour was a great value.

This excursion was a great variety of seeing several different areas of Puerto Plata. The Christ the Redeemer statue was especially nice. The waters bottles provided were nice, but note that there were no snacks included as stated in the description.

We had the best time on this excursion. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and the gardens were beautiful. Loved that it was a small group so going from once place to another took no time at all. The cable car ride had amazing views of the city. Would highly recommend this tour.

This excursion was not offered from the ship; but glad we found in through Shore Excursions. It was wonderful, and our guide Alex was very good. The view from the top of Mount Isabela is unbelievable. Such a beautiful place. When we got back to ship and told others what we did - no one else had done it or even know of this offering and were jealous of our experience.

This excursion was excellent, the tour itself and the tour guide. My Wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The long walk from the ship to your bus is long, no big deal, it took about 15 min. Hit the shops at port AFTER the tour, the bus won’t wait.

it was a walk from the pier to get to the Tour Bus, but was well worth it. Nice tour, very informative and our tour guide and bus driver were wonderful. So glad we we booked this tour through our travel agency. It was not offered by the cruise ship.

We had a small group, and a wonderful guide. We went up on a cable car and the view was beautiful. From there to the fort and then into the town of Puerto Plata. The pacing was good, not a lot of climbing around and enough time at each location. I felt that the tour was a good value for the money. About 3 1/2 hours to see a lot. A long walk to meet the tour, as one must exit the port area and walk down a street. They did warn us, but a long walk.

The tour was informative and fun. The tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly and engaging.

We were a party of 5 and thoroughly enjoyed the "everything" tour of the area. From the history to the scenery to the local flare we were well cared for. Very professional. We had a great tour guide too! I highly recommend this tour over the ship tours. The walk is interesting but there's a Utube video to help. The rum punch was a bonus! One of the best tours I've been on.

This was a great overview. The cable car provided great views and was not included in the ship offered tour. We also like the small size of the tour, not a big bus. Highly recommend.

I’ve been to Puerto Plata before but this tour showed me places I hadn’t seen. Small group, comfortable bus & great tour guide. Well worth the cost

From start to finish, this excursion was excellent. I contacted them several times prior to the trip for information, and their responses were consistently prompt, professional and informative. Our guide, Henry, was outstanding. He reiterated at the beginning of the tour that this is a cultural tour, not a shopping excursion, and the itinerary proved him right. His love for his country and his knowledge and enthusiasm for its culture shone at every turn. In addition, he was constantly sensitive to the tour participants and their needs, and his excellent command of English made it easy to communicate with him. One caveat to anyone thinking of taking this tour: the walk between the meeting area and the ship took us a bit longer than we anticipated, perhaps due to the weather being very warm that day. On a cooler day this excursion would have been absolutely perfect.

Our tour guide was great !!! Thanks Milton for everything, your pride and your knowledge of your countries history was very impressive. If you go to amber cove on carnival cruise line and don't book this excursion you are missing out on a great time.

Victor was our tour guide along with his two co-workers. He was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. I learned so much on this tour. We felt safe and were well taken care of. We had rum punch or soda and water on our way back. The views from the highest point were beautiful. You will not be disappointed on this tour plus we had a small group which was nice.

The actual town of Puerto Plata is a good distance from the cruise terminal so the best way to experience it is with a comprehensive tour. The "Explore Best of Puerto Plata" tour was an excellent tour for this purpose with the trip up and down the mountain by bus and cable car is the highlight many tours do not include.

My wife and I had a great time on this excursion. Our guide, Victor, was very knowledgeable about all the sights we saw and the included rum punch and other drinks was icing on the cake. Highly recommended!

The tour was absolutely wonderful! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. The tour shuttle was new, very comfortable and had wifi. We would highly recommend this tour and this company...Amber Cove Adventures.

What I thought would be a boring day, Victor turned it into a day I won't forget. Extremely knowledgeable on the History, agricultural and politics of his country. I read other reviews on the "long" walk to the meeting location. It's not that long of a walk, so don't hesitate to enjoy the culture of this country. Or the rum punch!
